TraumManufaktur Thanks, I just ordered it.
I ordered the 300 yesterday for my AC160. All the reviews and recommendations have been good.
@Peternap This 3.5 to 2.5 adapter has served me well with my wireless bridge and MKE 300. Only inconvenience is that I have to change the files from Stereo to Double-Mono in my NLE.

No sound guy on the specs, but this one gives me a worry-free solid connection for run & gun.
@peaceonearth Thanks for the feedback. The more I see comparisons, the more I stick with my MKE 300 for now with its long tube. Other things are a priority to buy.
@TraumManufaktur I have that mic and I was worried about camera noise also. So far that hasn't been a problem. Some noise is going to be an issue no matter what mount is on the camera but this doesn't seem to have more than my RVM which has a very good mount.
Getting a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter that you don't have to constantly fidget with is another matter.
@TraumManufaktur it has only a small rubber block for shock absorbing. I was a little sceptical too but up to now had no issues with camera noise. Compared to Røde with 9V battery block it uses a AAA battery which is a big advantage also. I agree with the rating of MKE400 in this video (I news this before, this guy is a real fidget) but I wrote my estimation already above, also where I bought it in EU for a reasonable price.
@peaceonearth It states that there is no shock mount and no thread to move it off-camera. What's your experience with handeling camera noise?
Could you do a comparison like in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=SPfdL_zUrKQ#t=320s which has VideoMic, MKE400, BeyerDynamics
I'd love to hear the isolation factor and voice quality
Rant:
Price: $129.95 B&H £139,00 (inkl. MwSt.) ca. EUR 173,81 off Ebay in Europe
Getting sick of getting milked for every purchase in the EU. I could buy a ticket to NY, do my shopping of this and that and come out ahead.
\end rant.
ok thanks!
@rockroadpix Using the GH2 2,5mm jack with 2,5 /3,5 adapter but w/o headphones is a big risk, I normally never use a mic on this jack as my one and only main mic. If I use the MXL I use it there for sync, for atmo, for a back up "just in case". I don't need stereo mostly so I have no problem that it's only mono. As I wrote compared to the Røde the MXL has less noise, higher sensitivy and a richer volume.
@peaceonearth - I noticed that it is a mono microphone. Are you mixing it with other mics? Or are you going straight into cam? In what ways is it better than the Rode? I need to order for a shoot that just came up for Monday.
@rockroadpix I appologize but I don't understand what you want to say or to ask.
@peaceonearth - I know good sound, but not certain semantics as to how it "mixes" I seem to have forgotten all that I learned in college... Does using a mono mic make a difference (sound wise) as opposed to a stereo mic w/ the GH2?
MXL mikes are very good in their niche, includind their normal shotguns.
@peaceonearth Interesting!
@peaceonearth That would be great!
@Vitaliy_Kiselev I can do that if sb is interested. I am just preparing a 8 days shooting abroad and when I am back I will set up a side by side comparision of MXL FR-310, Sennheiser ME66, ATR 897 and Røde Stereo mic. Feel free to remind me after 20th of July ;-)
Any plans to make review or shoot few examples?
Nobody answered so I bought it on hit or miss.
And it's a hit! Low noise, high sensitivy, rich sound, way far better than Røde not to mention crappy MKE 400. Also to recommend U.K. dealer http://www.rubadub.co.uk/ for great communication and smooth E.U. b2b transaction without VAT.
sounds interesting. I am just sold my crappy MKE 400 on ebay and was looking for replacement. Did anybody compare it already to Rode VideoMic / VideoMic Pro?
