  • No sunsets in this project, but I just wanted to share a music video I completed with Driftwood Sedna AQ1 "A" settings. Shot mainly with Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f/0.95 with some Olympus 9-18mm f/4-5.6 as well. Smooth -2, -2, -2, -2.

  • @wathabee Great colors, looks great overall.

  • @weathabee I loved the shot when he pushed the little kid in the pool =)

  • @wathabee Awesome work, love the colors, very nostalgic! What did you do your CC in? Great track too :-) @Driftwood your patches fucking rule man ;-)

  • Thanks guys! @Diffusion33 I graded with Magic Bullet Looks in After Effects. I started with a preset that applies lift to blues and gain to orange. Also used a subtle spot fill that contributed to the nostalgic look - it worked like an inverse vignette. Then just adjusting curves to get where I want. The underwater material was similar but more purple instead of warm.

  • @weathabee nice footage, which underwater case is this...?

  • Who is the Winner??? Anynews??? Who Won that X Lens.

  • News & Competition Many of you will have noticed I havent been very active on these pages of late. Thats because I'm filming 'Swim to Land' at the moment and of course am very busy. I did hope to release 'Apocalypse Now' setting by now but have still a few tuneups to integrate - there will be Intra variations and Cluster v7 variations. bkmwcd will also be releasing a 'Valkyrie' setting for GOP3 users too.

Lookout for releases this weekend for sure.

BTW: I'll be setting up a competition voting response page link on wiki whereby all entries posted in this thread should be placed. Only one entry each person (so choose your personal fav entry if you have provided more than one). More news on the whereabouts of this link soon.

    Best,

    Nick

  • @Lambo Thanks! I actually used two HD Hero 2 cameras for the shoot. One was using the new dive housing that GoPro released in May, and the other was the BlurFix kit from Snake River Prototyping. I bought the BlurFix before the GoPro version was available and did some comparisons when I had both, but I could not see any significant differences. They are both WAY better than the original housing. I'd recommend the GoPro dive housing simply because it's $30 cheaper and ready to use out of the box, whereas you have to assemble the BlurFix kit manually (not difficult though).

  • @weathabee , excellent video.

  • Hello. Maybe It's not the right topic to ask questions about Sedna's settings, still I hope someone can clarify me some confusion. Right now I'm using Sedna A Q20 and quite happy with it though I'm also looking for new options as well. I browsed back this topic to March, at that time there were a lot of talks about Sedna Q1 and Q20.

My question is since the patch has 3 versions (A, B, C), I understand that Q20 is Sedna A while Q1 is Sedna B (I dont know what Sedna C is anyway). But a lot of people also talking about "Sedna A Q1", what is that? Is it another patch?

By the way, from what I had read, Q1 gives better quality while Q20 has better motion right? I plan to try Q1 as well, but everytime I patch new firmware, I feel like I would have a heart attack.

Thanks in advance for any answer.

  • @kriser81 Q1 has constant high bitrate Q20 has "adaptive" bitrate, that means more the movement or more the details in the shoot so higher the file.

  • @Kihlian

Ahh. So it is about constant and adaptive bitrate! Thank you so much Kihlian!

  • @Kihlian

Just one more question if you don't mind. I just steeled my heart and patched Sedna A Q1 to my GH2 (the old one is Sedna A Q20). I'm using 45mb 32gb Sandisk card and notice that the record time is still the same (24pH for 27 mins, 24pL for 54 mins). Since Q1 has constant bitrate, isn't the record time suppose be shorter than Q20 which has adaptive bitrate?

It has been months since the last time I patched this camera, so I might missed something along the way...like ending up using the old patch by mistake.

  • @weathabee thanks for the information !!!

  • hey folks,

this is my "first" complete 'film' made with my GH2 with the Sedna B config. Thank you Driftwood for this wonderful config! It works perfect - specially for night shots with maximum ISO.

I hope you like it :)

  • @the_cubaner Looks great. What lenses, f-stops, shutter speed, iso's, etc were you using? Great stuff. This is first Sedna footage that I've liked. I like the quantum and Canis stuff more. Maybe it's the B config that I haven't seen yet. Thanks for posting.

  • @feha Thanks. Basically Smooth -2 -2 0 -2. The lenses were an Asahi Auto-Takumar 85mm f1.8 and a Prinz 135mm f 2.8.

I list more tech details on the Vimeo page.

  • Hi guys, I tested MYSTERON patch tonite under low light conditions. Nostalgic -2. Using Canon FD 20mm lens, stopped down to F4 or F5. I think the image exhibits unusual amount of noise even under low iso. Even at iso320 there is very noticeable noise. Even at 160 there is some noise. Or am I imagining? Perhaps, this is normal? First image is ISO 160, second image iso 320 and third is iso 640.

  • Also, perhaps a stupid question but whenever I play the same file in different modes, I get different bitrates.

For example, when i copied my footage from the SDHC card to my MAC, there was a folder called PRIVATE. If I double click on that folder instead of opening up it launches Quicktime player and gives me a list of the footage I shot. I can then play those files inside the quicktime player. When I play any file via this method Quicktime shows me a bitrate of 160Mbit/s.

But, I can also right click on the PRIVATE folder and by doing choosing SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS I can get to the STREAM folder which contains the footage and can copy the MTS to the desktop and then play them in QUICKTIME. This way Quicktime shows me a bitrate of only 65Mbit/s.

This is totally confusing. It's the exact same file, but I get different data rates... Why does this happen? I'm attaching sample images. First one displays data rate of 160Mbit/s and the second one is 65Mbit/s.

    Thank you so much.
