If you like your films shocking, bleak and provocative, with a distorted sense of good and bad, incredible cast and acting, beautiful cinematography and a wonderfully unobtrusive soundtrack then you MUST watch 'Animal Kingdom
One of the better Aussie movies of recent times. The story was based on the 1988 Walsh Street police murders and the criminal family run by crime matriarch Kath Pettingill who was played by Jackie Weaver.

Animal Kingdom's Steadicam operator, Dale Henderson lives not far away and I ran into him when we both covered the same local community event last year.

The decision to shoot Animal Kingdom on 35mm really stretched the budget to the limit and meant they had to be very conservative with the number of takes they could do.
