Follow focus needs rails?
  • Ive been using the manual focus more often as the autofocus is too slow
    now i want a follow focus.
    Do i need to buy rails for it?

  • Normally, yep.
    As I know, friction based FF exist that attaches to camera threads. But this is not the best solution.
  • Look for the D|Mount from D|Focus System, is a quick rail free adapter but i think it only works with they own Followfocus

    But better just buy rails and adjustable base.

  • idc photo video also has a good rail-less friction follow focus system. but if you're serious about videography, you'll probably end up going to rails eventually anyway. idc is also upgradeable to rails, so i guess it's something to think about. def not the cheapest though.

    Any standard 60mm spaced 15mm rails will do :-)
