It was windy today so I videoed one of my hayfields using a 20mm Pancake in TE mode. That locks up a lot of the settings when the seed heads start whipping around.
I ran one clip for 5 minutes then shut it down.
Color is pretty good and the image is clean
.
@Nayche , i did today shot a birthday, done in 720 and i was surprised how well it came out.
Way better the i suspected.
When done editing i will post the video....
For now, here are some action shots that i did also today
Vimeo says.
We have some recommendations for this video:
This video's datarate is 114689kbps, which is pretty high. For HD video? (its not that high!!)
Please download the orginal mts file....vimeo.com/42467229
Oke thx @subco for testing.
What will push the i frames is this.
Encoder setting 1 720p=2 (use standard setting for encoder setting 4
Quantizer for 720 modes=1 (that give a more constant p-frame and a higher variable i-frame.
Also don't use the deblocking tables.....
The Scaling tables, i have no clue, but perhaps the standard GF2 settings give a better result
@subco i use sony vegas pro 10e.
A great free plugin for color grading is colorlab http://aav6cc.blogspot.com/
@Nayche not completely special, only the 720 mode.
Test if possible a lot off iso settings, high iso and shutter settings may not be any problem.
Depending on what you are shooting.
But the goal is that it is still smooth, sadly enough 720 with only i-frames on a class 10 card what most off us have, is not reliable .
The record time is between 10 seconds and 4 tot 6 minuts.
I have included a pdf file how to set it to gop 1!! but only for pal, ntsc doesn't record more the 2 seconds ;(
So i thought, why not gop 2 with 1 i and 1 p-frame,
the settings before have a constant i frame with a variable p-frame.
and one with constant p-frame and a variable i-frame
Those settings give a higher bitrate, but a lower quality p frame.
Visual you practically see no differences, but if you watch frame by frame, you will see it.
Now with v1.1 where the p frame follows the quality from the i-frame, the bitrate drops, but the overall quality off the image is better.
That will give better results if you do in post some slow motion with for example twixtor..
In version 1.1 the i-frame keeps the quality stable ad a higher quality.
And the p-frame will then be lower if there is for example a lot off "dark" shadow.
The i frame and p frame will be also lower if its out off focus or with fast spanning.
I only have a Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6 lens.
So i have no idea how it works with other lenses, and how the bitrates responds, on the Olympus 14-150 the bitrate increase when zooming in...
By the way, in ETC mode the bitrate stays practically the same as without it... :)
720p vibrant -2-2 0 0
In post, gamma lift, soft filter and srgb to crgb
yes twixtor..... and sometimes i use motion perfect

@mozes Download of the above file is failing for me. Can you repost please.
M6 Sports v.1.0h all gop2
Scaling tables and deblocking are frome @Driftwood Canis Majoris Day pm
Scaling tables for B-Frames are off.
Forget the above setting, (i cant delete it!!!!!!!!!!!
Just updated seta m6_sports v1.0f with the deblocking tables from driftwood.
GOP 2
Did some test today with GOP 2 for 720 pal.
Its hard to say if its better then GOP 3..
Only when watching frame by frame there is some improvement.
The daylight was not that good today.
Shots are done in GOP 2 and quantizer was set to 1, YES to one!!!
Why GOP 2?? well, after reading this.
A GOP starts and ends with an I-frame, a conventional JPEG-compressed frame. These are the ‘known quantities’, compressed only from the data of that frame. In between lie two different types of predicted frames, the frames that carry only difference data. These are called P-frames and B-frames. P-frames are predicted from the I-frame at the beginning of the GOP, and B-frames are bidirectional frames created by comparing the data from both the start and end I-frames
I was thinking if B-frames only use info from the first and last I-frame, why not only use i and p frames.
I did want p frames so that 720 was not that hicky what it is if i use only i-frames
Video is done in vibrant -2 -2 0 0
In sony vegas the sgrb to crgb levels plugin added, and even more saturation (overkill i now).
But on my TV it look great.
By the way, ad the end there are some shots witch where done with gop 3 and 6.
Update.
Please use the new settings from next post
@mozes That looks pretty good Mozes. It's also geared to 720-60 which is perfect. I'll try it out tomorrow. I'm interested to see how it handles lower light.
