I tried the first one, overall I didn't feel like its was safe to use it,just felt cheap and might not be strong enough, i did just one test run long time ago, i was driving very slow, but has not used it since.
The first one looks like the holder my old GPS came with and the second one's mount looks exactly like these cheap tripods I bought at the dollar store:
If you can mount the camera on the hood or roof, have you thought about mounting the camera on a long baseplate or board and then tying it down with one or two of these.
i have the delkin devices fat gecko, dual suction cup, and have used it (gh2 with 14-140 lens) with no problems on crappy roads at 30km/h and on good streets at 70 km/h, it costs U$70 on B&H
of course i also use a safety cord, just in case, when i use it outside the car
btw: a good thing that the fat gecko has is the hability to change the angle of the suction cups for the curves of the car, a feature that not every dual suction cup has, and that is really useful
