    Did demand spike up during the early stages of the lockdowns? Likely lots of people have perfectly good tablets now at home, and have no need to upgrade them. Thus a drop in demand now.

    Another reason is that companies are not making tablet specific chips and also do not want to make good designs for small batches.

    Usually it is smartphone ones and they are complex as hell.

    In reality all tablets must be modular with separate motherboards, back cover on screws and so on.
