28-75mm F2.8 G2 Tamron Zoom Lens

The old manual focus Tamron 28-75/2.8 was an Angenieux design. Is it an updated AF version of that optical design?

Strange starting with 28mm, it just feels too cramped for me compared to the normal 24mm
Wish more companies would follow the lead of Panasonic who offered 20-60mm as their kit lens. (unfortunately not constant f2.8)
As having 20mm on the wide angle is niiiice!
