MAGA: Winter is coming

  • Due to the severity of the electric generation shortfall, our expected outage length of 15 to 45 minutes has been significantly extended. Outages due to this electric emergency could last for hours & we ask you to be prepared.

In addition, we are responding to separate outages caused by the record-breaking winter storm that continues to impact our entire service territory. We are doing everything possible to respond to each of these power emergency events.

We remain in close coordination with ERCOT & we appreciate everyone's patience as we do all we can to protect the integrity of the Texas grid.

Green energy and global warming are very bad helpers.

Huge wind turbines fields installed in the strong jets area make weather unstable and very cold, both in US and EU.

In the continental United States (excluding Alaska), there are three power systems - Western, Eastern, and Texas. The Texas system is run by an office with the ironic name ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas). Texas has its own almost autonomous power system.

Main cause of issues is that capitalists in different US parts can't agree on who will rob you and business.

    Remember, Capitalism kills.

  • You realize that east/west divide is the Rockie Mountains? LOL. Texas is a special case. Maybe Ukraine of North America?

  • @BradMowrey

Yes, building big transfer lines is almost impossible in capitalism as it does not bring any profits.

Situation is becoming worse each month as wind and sun electricity sources are unstable and require big reserves in distribution network, they must be balanced and it requires using wider areas and longer wires.

Biden guys will finally destroy electricity network in US going into overdrive with cars and closing coal and gas based power generation.

    Maybe Ukraine of North America?

Despite various words used now Ukraine electrical network is tightly integrated with Mordor and other regions. As it was build not for profits.

  • PDF report on previous such event

Capitalists ignored all recommendations and just added lot of renewable energy making things much worse.

If people standing behind Biden will do that they want to do - next such event will 100% have casualties number in the tens of thousands.

  • @Vitaliy_Kiselev

Vitaliy, I have driven across the Rockies 4 times in my life. I do not wish to ever do so again. I also don't think it's a good idea to run power lines there. Do you support the same across Siberia? It is small case vs. big base, but valid.

edit: 6 times actually, the last time to move my wife back to the Midwest from California. The Rockies are not a friendly place. I have vertigo to prove it.

  • @BradMowrey

It is good idea if it allows better balancing. Is it easy? Nope. It also require coordination and agreements, and US is going now in opposite direction where elites trying to break market to competitive parts.

With wind and solar becoming bigger and bigger it will be required more and more.

  • It is cold now in most of Sweden. Because of this, the state broadcaster of Sweden advises citizens not to vacuum on weekends, so as not to create an additional load on the country's electricity grid. The reason is the shortage of electricity, which came in the country due to cold weather.

In Sweden, such advice is justified by the consequences of climate policy. After all, their own nuclear power plants are closing [the Ringhals nuclear power plant], and during the energy crisis, the oil power plant in Karlshamn has to be commissioned and coal based electricity imported from Germany and Poland.

At it is only around 10-20% of planned way that they made. More coming soon.

  • According to S&P with reference to the "most recent data" ERCOT, in the period 2021-2023. Developers will add approximately 35 gigawatts (GW) of solar and wind power to Texas, more than doubling the state's current total installed capacity of these renewables. If now it is about 30 GW, then by the end of 2023 it will reach 64 GW. By comparison, the installed capacity of gas-fired power plants in Texas is now about 60 GW.

Nice logic, next time it will be apocalypse.

  • This winter is very special won't end anytime soon
