  • In addition to general guidance, banks are asking Treasury for two specific changes to the small biz program:

    • Smaller banks want higher interest rate so they don't lose money
    • Big banks want "know your customer" rules waived so they can lend to co's they haven't worked with

  • On Mordor science level

"But the Russian test, PCR News wrote, only detects the virus when there are over 100,000 copies of it per milliliter in a sample. That is far more than in other countries’ tests. A test in use in the U.S., for example, will pick up the virus with just 6,250 copies.

“That would mean it’s about 10-16 times less sensitive than what’s available in the U.S.,” Carmen Wiley, president of the American Association of Clinical Chemistry, told ABC News by a phone. At such a level, she said there was a risk the Russians were missing cases, in particular where people were asymptomatic."

  • @Vitaliy....the picture each of us acquire of events is totally based on where we are, on how well we acquire local data, and how well that data is presented. Some places, as you yourself are personally experiencing, are better than others. Imho, mexico is doing an excellent job, maybe the best in the world, of putting it all out there. In the USa, most people are turning to local news, Most now have neighbors sick, who they see for themselves. In your country, well...sorry it's happening. But not only in mordor, but in all states that pushed semiautoritarianism...brazil, india, saudi arabia...well dozens or even multiples of dozens of states, will have to pushback after this is over. States will rise and states will fall before this is over. It will depend of the will of the people. But first we have to stay alive.

  • @jleo...comparing deathrates of different causes against corona is the most absurd kind of propaganda. Not one category except the flu and hiv, are an infectious disease contagious between humans, and the only one, influenza, h1n1 is the most fatal influenza type. And nearly half of the list....5...are livestyle choices. and really the same could be said of hiv. So....that makes more than 1/2 a choice one makes...not a disease one acquires by infection. And if influenza is as dangerous as corona, why aren't the hospitals in Italy and Spain filled with influenza patients dying too ? The argument is just stupid.

  • US in free fall

After last week's unprecedented 3.3 million surge in initial jobless claims, this week's is even more unprecedented-er, adding a stunning 6.648 million (just 100k away from our estimate of 6.5million) for a two-week sum of 10 million new Americans claiming unemployment benefits...

This is how capitalism is saving lives.

Private clinics independent tests stopped at least in few regions. Authorities prevented clinics to transport testing materials. As most of cities turn into blocked warzone (no entry and no out possible if you are private citizen on car), all against local laws.

Private clinics despite good volume failed to find even single coronavirus case for now.

  • Isolation as new technology

One of interesting point I found as opinion online.

Isolation is being used by governments as best tool to not derail planned media picture.

Such way they are able to stop independent tests and fully manage tests they made themselves.

People are not able to see overall picture themselves by talking and observing real life.

We are now having something like Matrix 0.7 Alpha, where all information for average citizen is blocked outside official media. All main freedoms are being taken, and all for "his own good".

All past 3 years we saw extremely fast installed measures for censorship by Google, Facebook, Apple, Amazon, all main newspapers and so on.

  • @jleo

Of course they don't care about health, at all.

But such sync among all countries with absolutely different situation can also mean that much bigger events are coming.

    Isolation is just tool.

  • Dr Anthony Fauci of NIAID/NIH admires Reagan and loved both Bushes he said at a dinner reunion at his Brooklyn Jesuit high school, St Regis, early last summer. He praised Big Pharma many times and he excoriated anti vaxers as kooks and trouble makers all resulting from one charlatan doctor in UK. He denied vaccinations can ever cause autism. The Wellcome Trust has been a major influence on most of the authorities we trust, even the Chinese guy George Fu Gao who is head of Chinese CDC is a fully westernised Oxford man and also a Wellcome Trust fellow and one of the major 15 attendees of EVENT 201 of GAVI & Wellcome Trust. Look up the video of Fauci at St Regis and read the wiki on big pharma long sorry history of Wellcome Trust. Dr Fauci controls a budget over $7 billion and he is a key proponent of a big pharma corporate "universal flu vaccination" for all of us.

Patrick Corbett: "Let us remember that never in history has the confinement of a healthy population been used to fight a disease. Above all, let us remember that this epidemic has had no significant consequences in terms of mortality."

  • just a few months ago Capitalism was under attack by Yellow Vests in France, Anti-oil pipeline protest in Canada, Bernie Sanders socialists in US ( although bernie is not much more socialist than Obama, Bernie voted yes to all wars ), and Greta Thunberg supporters were shutting down cities, now it's all gone!

With the US/ China Trade War lost, maybe they are getting ready for full time rationing as Chinese goods become less available in North America. You may need a Covid-19 social credit score, ie health check, geo-location travel check before you can buy a TV, or even food and toilet paper :)

Social Distancing = Hannah Arendt "Atomization" ?

Totalitarianism's radical atomization of the whole of society differs from the political isolation, the political "desert," as Arendt termed it, of tyranny. It eliminates not only free action, which is political by definition, but also the element of action, that is, of initiation, of beginning anything at all, from every human activity. Individual spontaneity--in thinking, in any aspiration, or in any creative undertaking--that sustains and renews the human world is obliterated in totalitarianism. Totalitarianism destroys everything that politics, even the circumscribed political realm of a tyranny, makes possible.

Today in the morning in China, the Americans bought out the French order for cash right on the tarmac. The France-bound plane departed to the US afterwards. The local authorities will now have to stick to major logistics companies, Muselier said, to ensure that the haul is not outbid or bought out in the loading area again. He added that the delivery is now expected later this week.

Actually, your sample also mean that we have quite wild capitalism in China.

Most companies I asked in China want only one thing - profit as much as possible from masks and similar things. Cost does not matter, quality also.

Lockdown in Toronto, Ontario extended to 3 months.

This guys are up to something.

Interacting fact is that elites tried similar thing not so long ago in Newfoundland (before all this shit) during heavy snow (but quite usual for the place). They suddenly introduced social isolation, asked people to lock, and prevented people to help each other even threatened with fines.

  • Canada: Penalties for social distancing violations.

fines vary across country in different provinces

    British Columbia

Personal fines: Standing too close to someone else. $1000 ,

Penalties for restaurants and bars that serve customers at a table. $50,000,

    Ottawa, Ontario

Penalty for having a party at home: up to $100,000 fine.

Ottawa, Ontario: Individuals caught flouting the provincial ban on gatherings can be fined $750 or up to $100,000, while the director of a business can face a fine of up to $500,000 and corporations could pay as much as $10 million.

  • yep, life is cheap :) US had 3 months to prepare for epidemic, according to most mainstream news. What were they, the Feds doing? Printing money! Maybe you can attach rubber band to $20 bill to make a face mask :)

The US bought out a planeload of Chinese-made face masks right on the tarmac just as the haul of the much needed protective gear was about to set off for France, the head of a French region told RT. Facing shortages of protective equipment amid the coronavirus outbreak, France has turned to China to procure the much-needed face masks.

After French legislature adopted a law on the emergent medical situation, local authorities were able to place an order on the equipment in China, paying for it upfront. All in all, his and other regions ordered some 60 million masks, the head of the south-eastern Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region Renaud Muselier told RT France on Wednesday.

“The masks have been already produced and are currently in China. There are troubles with their delivery, though,” Muselier said, adding that the haul was set to arrive in France on Thursday evening. The country, however, ran into unexpected logistics troubles and not-that-friendly competition from the US, Muselier revealed.

The Americans are trying to procure any masks already available, disrupting deliveries to other nations, another report by French daily Liberation indicated. “They pay double and cash, even before seeing the goods,” an anonymous source told the newspaper.
  • @jleo

Situation with masks is real joke.

As if they are serious it is time to supply people proper respirators with covered filters, with usage time indicators and with free to get filters that anyone can change.

But somehow while destroying all economy they are not interested in getting masks or educating people.

  • The Guy Who Helped Invent the N95 Mask Thinks He’s Found a Way to Clean and Reuse Them

“Right after the outbreak, a lot of virologists did a lot of experiments, and they found 65 degrees Celsius [149 degrees Fahrenheit] for 30 minutes, that will kill COVID-19,” Tsai told VICE News.

The trick is finding the perfect temperature that kills the virus while not destroying the mask. Temperatures over 200 degrees Fahrenheit (100 degrees Celsius) would kill any virus — but would just about destroy an N95 mask. But Tsai said European certification requires a mask to be able to withstand 158 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degree Celsius) for up to 24 hours.

The masks are also electrostatically charged. That allows them to suck in and trap airborne particles that might contain viruses, rather than allowing those particles to spread or even enter a person’s body. Tsai, who invented that process, said the electrostatic charge can be undone if the mask is exposed to super high temperatures, which would make the mask less effective. But at just the right temperature, heating the masks could be a life-saver.

    .....

“If you get up to about 100 to 120 degrees Celsius (212 to 248 degrees Fahrenheit), you start to see rapid degradation of the masks,” he said. “We've been focusing on trying not to damage the mask, and we've been using this number of 65 to 80 Celsius (149 to 176 Fahrenheit) for 30 minutes as kind of our gospel trying to achieve that, while not going over.”

But Mechler cautioned that the masks can only be reused three to five times if they’re sterilized in this way.
