Samsung S20 Ultra: main sensor 108 MP 1/1,33" capable of 8K 30p video and 4K 60p, 48 MP telephoto sensor, 12 MP ultra wide sensor, 10x optical zoom range, 40 MP wide front camera with 4K 60p.

...meat the entry LV dedicated camera killer, course Japanese camera manufactures love to iterate in microscopic steps until they run out of business. :)

  • The focus issue seriously undercuts shooting video, which is a bummer because, otherwise, Samsung has an easy claim to make as the best video camera on an Android phone — and it might even be able to take on the iPhone for quality.

Samsung’s splashy video feature is the ability to shoot and edit 8K video, and the S20 Ultra can do both. It’s an accomplishment but not something I’d recommend most people do, though the ability to pull out high-quality stills from that footage is neat. The slightly improved video stabilization is more important to me (even though it locks you into shooting at 1080p).

Looks like usual Samsung, just worse.

No EIS in 4K for video, huge issues with focusing, big issues with auto processing you can't turn off, and much more.

  • The GH1, which uses ISOCELL Plus technology, has a reported resolution of 7968 x 5840 (43.7 MP). The Tetracell color filter array is in use and manipulating the contrast on our optical images we can see an artifact of the Super-PD phase detection autofocus (PDAF) pixel pattern. We have documented Samsung using masked and 2x1 on-chip lens (OCL) PDAF on different 0.8 µm generation sensors. Here at the 0.7 µm generation we expect only 2x1 OCL PDAF will be used, as on the GH1.

One other topic to mention on this world’s first 0.7 µm pixel sensor is the stacked chip interconnect strategy. The through silicon via (TSV) arrays visible in our die photograph show us immediately that Samsung has not yet adopted a Cu-Cu direct bond interconnect strategy as we have observed in Sony and TSMC fabricated imagers.

  • Also Samsung have S3K250AF special chip, aka Secure Element. It is attempt to copy Apple approach with T2 chip.

Public designation is to store passwords and such. But more real one is to harden any repairs and mainly prevent motherboard repairs, as such chip also has ids and special codes for all main chips.

  • With each generation smartphones become cheaper (in construction) and weaker.

Such price estimates are usually fully unfounded, as lot of products do not have any "market price" as they are produced inside corporation, and lot of others are being provided to only Samsung under special contract and design terms.

Top of the line smartphones usually are extremely profitable (after design and such cost being paid off), as most companies drop price around 50% within one year (Apple do it less).
