qoocam + 120 fps + depth map + came earlier and software features seem more finished and advanced

but little is known about vuzeXR may be they can catch with some of the software features of qoocam later?

Does some of the members plan to review VuzeXR?

  • Off topic but related: are there VR production rules already in existence? How early is this field on the uptake curve compared to film? 1900? 1910? 1930? I don't mean tech wise (though that is a question in itself), but as a creative medium. What carries over from film production? How is a shoot staged? How is it lit? Has anyone documented the production of a VR movie?

  • @radikalfilm

It is good idea to make it like topic, I guess.

Guys who shoot VR professionally could help here.

For me it looks extremely hard, very limiting. And it seems like this is that industry realized in last year.

It is also why you see so much marketing push towards using 360 video to make virtual normal cameras out of it.

  • I can't see much upside to shooting narrative in 360, but "virtual normal cameras" is actually pretty exciting (though the quality will need to improve a bit more)

  • @eatstoomuchjam

Huge issue with virtual cameras is 180 degree lenses (and lack of any hoods), result - extreme suspicion to flares (and lack of contrast).

  • @Vitaliy_Kiselev I've noticed that on mine - in addition, they capture with extremely deep DOF similar to action cameras which makes it difficult/unlikely to get effective subject/background separation - but for pulling off camera movements that would be otherwise impossible or very difficult, I'm increasingly excited by the possibilities.
