anybody tried yi m1 with Viltrox EF-M2 (cheap but nice speedboster)? With for example Sigma 18-35 1.8, Canon 50 1,8 - it could be great and cheap package.
It will be great also to create somewhere place, forum for users m1 - maybe someone can make hack for this camera (for exampe 4K 60 fps could be nice + bitrate mod)
I don't think someone will hack it. It looks like a lot of work for just one person. But yeah... this hacked could be a great cam. It even have 2k mode! Imagine if we could have 2k 12bit 24fps. For now i want a better codec, better manual operation no time limit and hdmi output.
Ps: Does someone know how to remove/replace the turn off boot animation?
Actually unpacking/repacking is almost done (yet not completely)
Just need developer with some time
anyone know what image processor powers this cam? the spec sheet only states 4 core ARM processor.
@Vitaliy_Kiselev Who is working on that? The only guy i knew said that the project is dead.
I never said that someone works on this.
I said that pack/unpack sources are available and they almost work. Just need someone who will spend a week on them.
@Vitaliy_Kiselev - maybe you can add button and make donation for somebody who can make such thing (hack)?
Two lens kit in EU for 399 EUR
its been discontinued apparently on B&H, and according to sources in China there will not be a 2nd generation since Yi Tech is moving toward cloud and AI cameras.
Even better. Do not hope for firmware updates.
But it can be useful as second camera after you learn it quirks, not best but usable.
Any news on possible hacked firmware? This cam would be PERFECT for me without the 7min 4K limit :(
Any plans here @storyboardcreativity? I have one of these cameras and i'd happily help someone able to hack it.
Will be on deal later today in EU
YI M1 is gone from all US shops
Yesterday kit had been for $149. for last remaining items.
@samuelcabral. Somebody downloaded a text editor on page 6 to start on it. What happened there?
The camera looks a mess to bother.
How much would it cost for someone to hack the firmware and remove the 4k 7.29 minutes/4gb recording limit ( and possibly the 30 minutes recording limit in all video modes) ? Maybe we can make a fund raiser and donate the sum asked for the work. I will if offered and i am sure there are enough people who would do it also.
I highly doubt about "enough people". I think we had somewhere buggy decoder of firmware mentioned. Also note that 4gb limit can be very hard to go around.
There are 2 groups on facebook, one has 12k members, the official one, and another one has round 870 members. Since support is out, maybe posting a poll about hacking the camera to remove the limit in 4k a job that the company should of done would not hurt. But for this a price quota qould be necessary and a person able and willing to do it.
How much would the work to modify the firmware would be ? If someone is interested to do the work and give an estimate i can start a gofund me or something similar fundraiser for the sum. Who is in ?
I would donate for a firmware mod. I read in the comments of the yi firmware tools someone said "Flashed the recompressed 3.2 firmware today, everything is working fine." As well as " Decompression and compression have been validated and work correctly."
https://github.com/protyposis/yi-mirrorless-firmware-tools/issues/2
Does that mean now someone has to just modify the values like bitrate and reflash firmware? How would one find these values?
It can mean anything, I do not see ANY changes from the state it did not work.
I use the II M1 for videography... Dove Bird Xiaomi Yi M1 with SIGMA AF APO MACRO 180 mm f/5.6 EOS to M4/3 MFT 504mm @ 35mm
