Apple suggest all developers move to Metal. Both OpenGL and OpenCL and moved to "Deprecations and Removed APIs" section of developer docs for new upcoming MacOS.
Apple also warned that OS update after this one can have all of this APIs fully removed.
It seems like preparation to move to iOS based OS and their own ARM based CPUs. It also means that many plugins authors can stop making Mac versions if they do not sell well enough to pay for full algorithms rewrite (this considers OpenCL).
Will Adobe do the rewrite for their products? I've been looking but haven't been able to find anything.
This seems like it should be a major consideration for creative professionals who are about to buy a new Mac.
If you ask me - Apple now cares nor about professional nor about quality of things they make.
