Samsung is going to make FF and APSC sensor for Japanese companies.
FF might be manufactured soon for one company and it might be Panasonic.APSC sensors were already developed and sent to Fuji and Pentax. The sensor is similar to NX1 but improved version. Fuji will get only sensors and Pentax will get ISP package too. Also, both Samsung and Fuji developed a new sensor together(There is an article)
For APSC Samsung sensor, it has…
- 28,2mp
- 6k video
- 10 bit 120fps
- H. 265 codec
The price will be 70% of Sony sensor.

It is certainly some foundation under this. And it can be related to something happening in the mobile sensors industry.
May be agreement time is ending in 2019.
I do not believe Panasonic will use non-Sony sensor for now, but if they will do it in future models we can safely say that they are doomed.
Knowing Samsung management, they are not Sony and do not respect Japanese intricate dealings too much.
NX1 was so ahead of its time and Panasonic seems like they like to be first to market with a lot of things. This could be good.
Fuji keeps looking better as time goes on. I love my NX1
I don't see how the NX1 sensor is that great, low light performance was not stellar and DR not great either, NX1 was only revolutionary in terms of features and usability.
NX1 might be dated, but a refresh might just as innovative as the original was. Fact is, there's lots of used cameras out there with great IQ, but the NX1 holds its value.
Sadly I'm sure my NX mount lenses are dead :-(
But would be nice if Samsung starts making sensors for Nikon/Canon/Panasonic/etc... everyone who is not Sony! ha

Died on your hands? LOL.
Just get NX500, set of batteries and they'll happily live another 10 years.
With NX500's crop and no mic input, I'd rather get the NX1 but prices are still a bit on the high side. I'll just keep an eye out for a well priced G80 instead.
Well, why you so need 4K for video?
As for mike input - just get any shotgun with build in recorder (or Tascam+lav), they are cheap now.
You need 4K because it is a sort filter on YouTube. Although, you could upsample....

Cool logic.
Btw upsampling quality will make real revolution in next 2-3 years. As it'll be huge neural networks asking huge cloud databases of images.

Are 4K videos more likely to be favored by YT's recommendation algorithm?!

Eh, I'm a certain amount of lazy with my YT channel..... :-P

I don't really, rather have better AF and IBIS!

I believe laziness is not so bad so you can't spend pair of second to auto sync audio.
It'll be much better anyways.
