Worth a try even if you do not fully understand why you need it :-)
Any recommended experiences with this ?
Can it be used to just watch a movie on a flight from a laptop ?
You need to dig in it.
By idea it could be, but only with proper Windows laptop and software.
I've got the Dell Visor which is a very similar Windows MR headset and it's great technology. The fact that it does not require any tracking cameras to be setup in the room makes it very light weight and easy to use and put away. WMR headsets can play regular videos and also 360 videos in the headset. That link is just for the headset without the bluetooth hand controllers. It's not especially easy to get around without the controllers but it can be done. You can select things by just pointing your head at them and holding it there. I would definitely consider getting a kit with the controllers for more usability. Also with the controllers you can play any game or application designed for the Occulus Rift or Vive with "Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR". If you check eBay some of the kits with headset and controllers go for 150$ or less especially with an eBay % coupon.
Thanks for input.
@bannedindv If you want to watch a movie on a flight, it's generally better to just get an Oculus Go.
