  • Cheap battery grip

  • Found rather attractive used offer.

What is best to check in used GH5?

      • Addition of new film grain mode that can help to express the texture of an analog-like film Monochrome film "Granular" mode that expresses the texture of the photo is installed in the image quality adjustment of the photo style. Analog-like random noise can be reproduced and new accent can be added to monochrome photograph. The graininess can be selected from 3 levels, and it can be finished in black and white photography according to preference and world view.
      • Added "Focus ring lock" function to disable the focus ring operation and fix the focus position on the custom menu.
      • Added a function that allows you to change the setting while "pressing" the WB / ISO / exposure compensation button. You can choose from the custom menu.
      • "Dial" was added to "Operation lock setting" of the custom menu.

      • Improvement of autofocus performance · Improved AF following performance during movie recording.
      • When using shutter speed in angle display, AF speed at 180 ° setting was improved. Improvement of camera shake correction performance in the body · A phenomenon in which the periphery may be distorted when walking the video using the Company wide angle zoom lens (H - F007014, H - E 08018) has been improved. (* 1)
      • Improved voice performance · Optimized the noise reduction performance of the internal reference microphone and improved the voice quality.
    • Major performance improvement other than the above
      • Functions that can be set are added to the Fn button setting at shooting. "Focus ring lock" "Electronic correction (movie)" "Microphone level display" "Live view boost" "Night mode" "L. monochrome D"

  • But - NO FIX FOR THE MASSIVE VFR above 60fps HORIZONTAL NOISE problem on the GH5S? https://www.facebook.com/groups/pansonicgh5/permalink/1849240912042275/

  • Check very nice cage for GH5

  • Looking forward to the Firmware update for the GH5. It is a great camera and is getting better.

  • Here the first AF focus test by “Photos by Richard”.

Seems much faster than before and on par with the GH5s and the G9

  • I'm happy that they are updating things like AF and adding some extra features, but still could use some major overhauling of the display layout such as moving the LUT / V-log icon from the center of the screen. They really could shrink and move most icons and settings to the black borders and give a nice clean image in the center.

  • I suggested for a GH6 to have a 2nd screen where the normal screen rests as a kind of “service screen” with all informations on, to have the other free for the video image.

  • Here's a few lion dance videos that I took a few days ago. It was a lion and dragon dance competition. I took videos of all performances. Lots more on my channel and still uploading videos. The settings: 4K 60p, ISO of 400, shutter of 60 and an Aperture that was around f/5 more or less. Also used the standard auto focusing. Would have tried to use the tracking auto focusing if the firmware was available during that time. The lens used was the Leica 12-60mm.

  • Hopefully some technical minded person will be able to answer this.

Is it possible for AF to be introduced to variable frame rate mode in a future firmware? Is the problem that the AF too specifically tied to the frame rate readout and would require custom implementation for each available frame rate? Or is the issue that AF at higher framerates would require more processing power than the GH5 can reliably give ?

I recently got the Panasonic 100-300mm and AF is invaluable, just a pity it's limited to 50p for nature and wildlife.

  • @Bernie

Seems that Panasonic read specific contrast AF pixels at certain rate.

So it can be both technically hard or it can be laziness, I personally think it is second option.
management did not set such task and hired (very skilled!) developers can't do it by themselves.

  • @Vitaliy_Kiselev thanks for the info, perhaps some day , but not holding my breath haha.

  • Our interview with Matt Frazer

  • Manual Focus lock is nice, I wish we would have the option (like the Fuji's now have) to stop the ramping in speed on the focus-by-wire. A nice update for all cameras.
