I wouldn't trust anything titled "World record 17 blades aperture lens," given that a number of Takumars had 18 blades and there were a number of lenses which had 20 or more blades as well (Tair-11A, Xenar 50/2.8, Novoflex 400/5.6 (24!), Xenar 240/3.5 (30!))
I guess that just means they can follow it up with another kickstarter for a lens with even more blades!
It is just marketing. :-) I am sure marketing person who wrote this had very little idea about lenses you mentioned.
Had a hard time keeping my lunch down while watching that video... I'm more than happy with my collection of Helios 44 variants, all of which were acquired for less than $20 each.
Hopefully it will be as good as my Sigma 60mm, but 2mm wider.
