Looks nice. No thunderbolt 3 ?
Looks nice. No thunderbolt 3 ?
As far as I know it does not have it.
What you need it for in such note? I much prefer USB 3.0 and SD reader
Oh this would be nice!
But I just got a Jumper EZBook 3 Pro, I think I only paid US$229? With free shipping.
Battery life is great, very compact and lightweight.
But.... can't playback ProRes HQ files from my BMPCC in VLC :-/ :-( Plays ProRes LT fine however!
Anyway, I just wanted it as a personal laptop for casual usage, plus as an on set tool for data offloading (thanks to the 2x USB3.0 ports!).
Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro Fingerprint Recognition - CORE I5 8GB + 256GB+MX150 GPU DEEP GRAY, $849
I'm so tempted to get one of these! I've seen a lot of reviews regarding the general use and gaming performance of the Mi Notebook Pro, but I was wondering if anyone here has any experience editing on one of these machines. I wonder how well it edits 4K footage in Premiere and if it gets hot and throttles under heavy load.
Cooling seems good.
For performance - it is same as i5 4 core desktop + GT1030 GPU. 4K must work very good.
Can you rip out the i5 and put in an i7 4+8......
@DrDave There's already a configuration with an i7 and 16GB of RAM.
@kin869 Looks good. The i7-8550U is a 14nm 4+8.

Xiaomi Notebook Pro Enhanced version
Enhanced Version (i7/16GB/1TB) is priced at 6999 yuan ($990), and will go on sale on November 1.
GPU options?
Zero info on this one.
To clarify:
I can only find: https://www.gizchina.com/2019/10/21/xiaomi-notebook-pro-enhanced-version-officially-announced/
The Xiaomi Notebook Pro Enhanced Version has got a minor upgrade. The color gamut is upgraded from the original 72% NTSC to 100% sRGB, but the brightness is still 300nit. At the same time, it uses the Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Macbook Pro has a P3 display (see image below) source: http://www.astramael.com/
I own a Mi Notebook Pro 15, so I'm only correcting this as its untrue that the new display is the same as a Mac.
I have also calibrated my Mi Notebook Pro display and get a 98% sRGB coverage, so its very close to 100%.
However it is good that Xiaomi is placing importance on accurate colour. Hopefully they will expand to larger spaces and HDR in the future.
You are right.
It must be interpreted that if you are working on most common sRGB content their screens are same as MacBooks.
But all MacBooks come with soldered on mainboard SSDs, T2 chips, charging chip firmware and so on.
Here at least you can install pair of NVMe SSDs.
I completely agree. I have put another NVMe into my Mi Notebook Pro (both M.2 slots are NVMe regardless of what is posted online- I have done it).
But- its not P3. Mind you P3 isn't the most amazing thing in the world. When we get to rec.2020 let me know. As at least rec.2020 is spectral colour primaries, and AFAIK sRGB nor P3 is.
New deal (with cooling that is 2x better than Macbooks)
Quite nice set, CPU and GPU are not best, but very cool running.
SSD is upgradable, can add second NVMe SSD.
