Canon C200 Camera

  • This camera really needs such modes:

    • HEVC 12bit lossless mode for storing so called raw data.
    • HEVC 12bit and 10bit intra modes
    • HEVC 8bit, 10bit and 12bit inter modes from 15mbit for 1080p to 300Mbit 4K.
  • Pure socialism only works for utilities.

Have no idea that this means. Including that "pure socialism" is.

Standards are another issue. If we had them, the standard would probably be Canon EF, which would be much better than nothing. Back when we had standards, the government usually picked the market leader's system. Back in the 50's, there was a major standards war between RCA/NBC and CBS over color TV. The FCC picked CBS's system, which was superior for color, but incompatible with existing black and white sets. RCA/NBC went to court, won their case, and we ended up with NTSC.

And it absolutely does not matter that capitalist will win.

Almost all present standards are made by conglomerate of capitalists and usually specially worsened to make applicable as many patents of parties involved as possible.

Never going to happen. Never has, never will. Socialism is an unlikely future but I hope you are correct in your prediction.

Not only happened, but worked normally :-) Inability to establish standards in the common interest rise exactly due to private property on means of production and resulting behavior.

And socialism is not more unlikely than tomorrow morning.

  • Standardised interfaces? Never going to happen. Never has, never will. Socialism is an unlikely future but I hope you are correct in your prediction.

  • @alcomposer

I think socialism is future of humanity :-) And cameras will follow :-) Including standardized interfaces.

  • So you think PCI-E in future of cameras?

  • @alcomposer

M2 in good custom casing is that they should use for small and medium guys. For larger cameras it must be approach like Atomos use.

And SD is the sad horrible format.

It is good reason why things go to standardized PCI-E abolishing all this custom things. As design and such become more and more social, more and more complex, you can not have 4 similar things doing same thing.

So it is bad fate ahead of SD, HDMI and such.

  • I think only camera company with direct SSD drive memory is currently Kinefinity.

    Otherwise also Atomos.

CFast has always been expensive. Possibly because it's not a mainstream product? SD cards are much better form factor, (not too small- not too large) and are used in basically all small cameras, apart from really small cameras that use microSD.

Aside from PCB and plastic case it is zero investments, as they use same controllers and NAND chips as mass products. So it is greed only.

We already see that UHSii is very expensive, question is will these also come down in price? If the consumer cameras disappear then a very different situation will happen.

Very similar here. Companies reach cartel agreement usually to milk users and get big profits for owners.

If however the landscape changes and all these small point & shoot cameras disappear then possibly SD card cost will rise?

  • @alcomposer

I know. But it looks nasty and not suitable for many occasions.

  • I also have issue with capitalists greed

I understand that they like to work with 1000% margins, but...

  • Some old article - http://blog.abelcine.com/2012/11/05/what-exactly-is-canon-raw/

Canon RAW Light can be not entirely raw. So it can have applied channel gains (for WB) and ISO. As far as I understand Canon guys from our interview it is 12bit compressed thing, out of 14-16bit ADC original signal.

  • The new COMPACT-SERVO 70-200mm Zoom Lens looks interesting. However at T4.4 I think the price factor may be a bit high: $5800 USD.
