You can see focus pull function that Vesku and VK were discussing at about 12:30 in this video:
Implemenation looks like exactly how I would want it to function - set two points prior (or even three if you want!), then just tap the "Pos1" button on screen, then "Pos2" when you want it to rack, then you can even select a third point "Pos3"! Looks like there is a speed setting (L,M,H?) and an option to start the moment you record OR at a preset delay after hitting record OR using on-screen "pos" (position) presets that you've defined. Execution of this in this video and a few other videos showing this feature looks bang on perfect! Have been hoping for this feature for years and it looks like they delivered!@theSUBVERSIVE I wrote this info as a response to @EspenB who had a theory that GH5 sensor is not native 4/3.
@sam_rides_a_mtb In one video thes said that the focus pulling with 2-3 focuspoinis has 5 speeds: Super slow, slow, medium, fast and super fast, which was said to be almost instant focus change.
The focus pull function seems like a nice feature, anyone know if this this will be for all m43 lenses or just the newly updated ones?
VLOG-L Unlock Key, appears will be free in Aus, if you preorder...
According to DigiDirect
Important also how it will be made in smartphone app.
they think the new firmware update of 400Mbps All-I will be H.265. Nick even said that since HEVC is 2x more efficient it would be like an All-I 800Mbps in the GH4 with an H.264 codec.
All-i is practically a series of JPG images. If I understand right h.265 cant compress it more than h.264 or even MJPG.
If I understand right h.265 cant compress it more than h.264 or even MJPG.
You understand wrong. H.265 intra compression is superior to H.264 and H2.64 intra compression is superior to MJPEG.
Eh, no wonder all 20 MP photos are 5184 x 3888 as that is how to get a 20 MP image in 4/3 aspect.
(You also want your mapped pixels to be dividable by a factor of 8.)
Still nobody can actually show me a decent picture of the GH5 sensor only. ;-)
H.265 intra compression is superior to H.264 and H2.64 intra compression is superior to MJPEG.
Can you explain more?
It is just wrong topic for it. If you want to know more look for H.265 topic and such.
CVP in the UK have I think the best deal on preorders:
https://cvp.com/index.php?t=product/panasonic_gh5_body
Only 99€ down payment.
I think the video quality and noise is best when shooting 18Mpixel video and then down sample it in post to what ever needed. We can use better NR and down sample methods with 100% sensor source
Comparing the noise of ISO 6400 between GH and GH5: http://www.newsshooter.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/gh5-6-noise.jpg

maybe, but they will all react differently (as an example the 20mm 1.7 focus speed is very slow, so even in fast mode, it won't be fast...)
I hope they didn't add encryption to the Wifi communication between smartphone and GH5, so we can have a look at how those features are handled.
Any word on punch in focus while recording video?
Why they write something about natural noise? As image section is just not good for noise comparison and foe me it just seems like we have stronger noise reduction on GH5.
Wonderful images:
I hope that today we will have group chat with Nick, As Nick has camera at hand, so you can ask him and he can even try.

Main question is:
Which compression is used for each recording mode, H264 or H265?
400Mbps ALL-I will be h264 or h265?
150Mbps is h264 or h265?
is h264 for 24p and h265 for 60p?
is h264 for 1080p and h265 for 4k?
No need to ask questions here.
@vitality_kiselev - what time and where is the chat?
Special note
Join https://chatstep.com/#Panasonic_GH5 to ask Nick Driftwood any questions considering GH5, starting right now.
As he has one of the few GH5 existing you can ask very specific things.
