And yes, electronic stabilization only
DXOmark is salivating, as usual, and tell you to go and guy instantly as camera is 1% better than last year phones

The entire keynote was kind of akward and the phone is definitely overpriced. They are mostly attacking the iPhone, with many not so witty remarks (camera bumb, headphone jack, storage space)
They were really boasting about the camera, and sampling the gyroscope 200 times a second, but no real OIS is a real bummer in a 750€+ device. The funny thing is that most pictures end up on Facebook or Instagram, and don't even get me started on the awful compression of Facebook. Even the camera in my OnePlus One provides more than enough detail and overall quality for social media.
It's a real shame for the "Nexus"/Pixel line. I remember the Nexus 4; they didn't need to brag about the camera, the software experience was the main atraction. That was a real device.
What I am excited about are the improvements of their translation technology.
OT: How do they manage to only get a 720p stream?
Good article about sensor used - http://www.xda-developers.com/sony-imx378-comprehensive-breakdown-of-the-google-pixels-sensor-and-its-features/
Nothing too interesting, just stacked back illuminated sensor made for phones, and sold with around 400% margin by Sony.
Just picked up a Nexus 5X 32GB for $250, can't imagine spending $700+ for any phone. Stacked sensor vs. traditional BSI doesn't even appear to affect performance, just makes the module smaller?? Talk about marketing bullshit on overdrive.
"Ya can't open the show with your best trick and leave nothing tor later". (Jimmy Durante)*
Google know they'll sell some new Pixel phones anyway. They also know there'll be a price war with the iPhone, that Apple's 70% iPhone profit margin has accumulated for them a huge war-chest - yet Apple still don't seem to have many more tricks left in the iPhone bag...
Pixel phones have started crappy. Don't buy one. Either buy whatever Pixel comes along next year or wait until prices of both iPhone and Pixel drop past $600 and then buy whichever.
Me, I root the fastest screen latency phone, turn it into a Nexus/Pixel by installing Google Play Edition, sit back with the cash I've saved and watch the action - which will be nothing if not interesting!
Teardown
Looks like Google's Pixel phone may just be little more than a re-branded HTC "Cerberus" after all..

What is happening with Google? One crappy thing after another.

After this go and watch Idiocracy one more time.
This is a huge, soggy fly in the ointment. http://www.techeye.net/mobile/google-issues-fix-for-pixel-lens-flare
Well, you will have such consequences if you work with image testers and sites on falling market. They are afraid to tell even slightest issue as they logically think that they will never get anything again.

Russian review
AMOLED screen gamut (contrary to Samsung it has no way to be put back to sRGB)
Screen temperature is around 7300K, no way to change it.

Well, I can understand the reservations, the halo bug, etc, but this is damn fine photo from a camera.
