Impressive. This meets or exceeds the Odyssey 7Q+ in a number of areas. Finally, a full HD screen. And it does 4k/60p from HDMI.

@davedv , I take it you need hdmi 2.0 protocol for the bandwidth for these high frame rate modes, we will probably see hdmi 2.0 on the new cameras in the second half of this year Is my prediction

I looked at the specs on the Atomos site as the Inferno is a pretty interesting product. I was waiting to see if the regular shogun would get RAW high frame rate as an update as the Odessey 7q's sub HD screen, and additional $1k for raw. Now while the inferno looks great, the 7Q can beat it with 4k 120fps burst and record 2k raw up to 240fps because of its ability to raid drives. The 7Q's HDMI is 1.4a only and I don't know how the 1500nit high bright screen on the Inferno will compare to the OLED on the 7Q so one can only wait till we can actually see some side by side comparisons or try one out.

The Odyssey 7Q can record 4K 120fps RAW bursts from the Sony FS700 and FS5 using a 3G SDI input. The reason this works is because the cameras have an internal memory buffer for the frames (which is also why it is a time-limited burst). Once the memory buffer is full, the camera plays out the frames at a slower frame rate (24 to 60 fps).

It's possible that this may end up working on the Shogun Inferno at some point as well, although historically the Odyssey has had the best support for the Sony FS cameras.

In terms availability expectations:

1) The original Shogun was announced in April 2014 at NAB with an expected ship date of October: https://www.atomos.com/wp-content/themes/atomos/PDFs/Atomos_Launch_Shogun_at_NAB_2014.pdf If I remember correctly, it didn't actually start shipping until the very end of December 2014

2) The Atomos Power Station was announced in September 2014 at IBC and started shipping in May 2015.

3) The Atomos Ninja Star was announced in April 2014 and started shipping in July 2014.

So they have had some delays in the past, although not quite to the same extent as Blackmagic. With the Shogun Flame and Ninja Flame, for example, they were announced in mid-March and available a couple of weeks after that.
