Anybody used their XLR plugin with the Rode Reporter? I have found only 1 review/post about this combo and it says it doesn't work all that good
"The first mic I used for this test was the RØDE Reporter, a dynamic ENG (omnidirectional) mic, with phantom power deactivated on both transmitters. Both transmitters were set to 0dB attenuation. The Sennheiser G3 had a very strong output and no adjustment was necessary from use with the lav and beltpack transmitter. The Sony, however, was weak and noisy and thin. I had to crank the input gain on the MixPre-D to almost-wide-open, about 95%, to get the signal to meter at 0dB and this resulted in a greater noise floor. Just to be sure, I made the same comparison with a couple other dynamic mics and got the same results. The Sony plug-on transmitter is, essentially, useless with dynamic mics."
I can't test it out before buying (and can't return it when I buy it) so I'd like to hear some more opinions about this combo...
anybody? :)
Sony XLR plugin is shit according to reviews. I mean its analog part.
May be it will work ok with some very sensitive mike.
So, is it really good system?
It is good enough.
Also note that it has unique option to eliminate cables for Sony cameras

Feels like a FS7 mk2 announcement, but for Sony audio.
Not quite as small as the FS5 mk2 was.... but still, not much of a step forward? Maybe the reviews will reveal it is a bigger deal than I feel it is. Sony isn't doing a great job at selling me on this, even though I'm a big big fan of their UWP-D11!
Their thing is that it will be tightly integrated with cameras. So you can see info in viewfinder or on the screen if connected via Sony hotshoe.
Unless they release a firmware update for their very popular FS5/FS7 and other cameras (their mirrorless perhaps?) then it is no good only being in a feature in a couple of new cameras.
Most probably they will :-)
