Any of you guys use this over the H4N? I'm not looking to mount my cam on it. Just keep it nearby when I have Wireless or boom hooked up. I'd prefer in camera capture but can't afford GH4 with adapter just yet.
Im surprised with the actual price, costs about a quarter of the original price, is it a good or bad product? Im thinking in buy for use with the GH2 and a future GH4 or GX7. Good or bad buy? Opinions please.
Manu4Vendetta I love the DR60. I started with the H4n and found that the Tascam 100 was better in terms of, well, almost everything, from interface to preamp. Then I got the D60, and it's much better than the Tascam 100. There is, with the DR60, a digital span in the pots that some people stress over. I never really notice it because I don't ride the pots too much. It's a fantastic unit, although the irony is that I personally have never got it to mate that well with dlsr's and m43's and that's specifically what it was engineered to do. Whatever, I just like it for it's bang for the buck performance. There are some high end audio guys here that might not like it because they're accustomed to SD and various high end audio gear. But I'd wager even they'd admit it presents great value.
I bashed the shit out of this thing because I was a dumbass but it is just amazing for the price. I have a 40 and it is leaps and bounds better and the 6N is not in the same class for preamps. Downsides are digital pots and eats batteries though I use an external battery in a whole sound sling now. It'll last me two days+. Plus I can sell the extra copy of PE for $50 on craigslist.
I dont know if buy or not. :(
Been using one for about 6 months. Works very well and pre is quite nice. Only issue I have is that it eats through batteries. So much so that I power it via USB/laptop wherever possible to avoid headaches.
It was good value at original price, now it's a steal. If you get it, learn the menu system well.
Here are the best review I've seen of the DR-60d

A bunch a posts about it at Dslrfilmnoob.com

Dr-60d compared to beachtech, Azden and Juicedlink:
I am using DR-60D since its release over a year ago, great stuff! Paid about 600USD but for for mere 200USD today - it is a steal! And PluralEyes for free!
Interesting, now Tascam has announced a DR-70D. I can find a price quote yet, but this looks a little more feature rich than the DR-60D. http://www.tascam.eu/en/dr-70d.html
Well, it is time to remember. One product - one topic.

Have one, and it EATS BATTERIES all day long.
Has anybody here tried powering it with a USB power pack? I'm considering powering it with this: http://www.banggood.com/Original-XIAOMI-5_1V-2_1A-10000mAh-Power-Bank-For-Smartphone-p-977406.html

Looking for a DR60d usb solution as well. I've been using a little RadioShack cylindrical pack, it's great, but need a little more charge. Links? Thanks in advance.
I power my Tascam 60D using this: Anker PowerCore 20100mAh Externer Akku
It works all day, and still has power left over.
I have the 70D, which is probably very similar to the 60D. Under the "Record" menu, there is an option to record in mono tracks instead of stereo tracks.
@LiquidAlpinist No, it doesn't have that option when I select 4-track audio record
@fotosiamo Just a shot in the dark here, but have you tried plugging in all your mics to the DR-60D. Some electronics menus only activate options in menu when things are plugged in. Also, I'd try emailing Tascam for advice.
