So, mid September now. Anyone surprised?
Why someone must be surprised. It is just form of business.
Development, assembly of few samples using small engineers team (and components not intended for mass production). After this it is big marketing, tours, etc. getting preorders and feedback.
And later just producing thing as market requires.
@IronFilm when you do buy one off the shelf, can I buy your F3? ;)
Haha, noooo.... I wouldn't be surprised if I keep it forever.
Let's pretend/dream/hope I get an URSA Mini 4.6K sometime in 2016, well I'll still want the F3 for multi camera shoots and as a camera to take out on cheaper / less important jobs, rather than bring out the big guns with the URSA Mini every single time. (Plus F3 has ND filters and great low light, there will be jobs where the F3 is a better absolute choice than an URSA Mini)
So by the time I find myself getting very little use out of it, it likely will be so far off in the future it will have dropped to perhaps a third of its value, so by that point there is hardly much of reason in selling it anyway.
an interview with BMD about 4.6K URSA, the Micro Cinema Camera and the future of Pocket Cam
We have included the reference video input and the timecode on the same connector so we now have a free connection for adding 12G-SDI input. This will let us use the URSA Mini with an external recorder better but also means we can use URSA Mini as a live production or studio camera!
There is a program button that lets you select to see the 12G-SDI input on the fold out screen or the viewfinder. Both the EF and PL models of URSA Mini will have this 12G-SDI input and we think they will make fantastic studio cameras!
Another new feature we have added is a B4 lens control connector to the URSA Mini PL models. This will let the camera power the lens and it also means the camera can control the IRIS and the record button on the lens will start and stop camera recording.
I think I heard the 4K URSA is on sale for $1000 off at bh.com .
@Vitaliy_Kiselev Yeah, I figured someone on PV would be on top of that. I'm only 2 days behind the curve - lol.
EVF review
I've been using the EVF since the day it arrived. It has been attached to my URSA and not been removed. There's no reason to remove it. This EVF should live on the URSA. It's the best way to shoot outside with this camera. I'll say it again, if you're thinking about the URSA or URSA Mini then the URSA Viewfinder is a must. Hands down it is the best EVF option for these cameras.

" expecting a shipment of the 4.6K week starting 16th November" from Blackmagic forum :)
@MikeLinn do you have the password?
The BM testers on the blackmagic forum and twitter have received the first units of URSA Mini 4.6k, I think that soon we will watch some footage from the new sensor :)
Hi friends, isn't this topic about Blackmagic URSA mini 4.6 ? Please don't post here other cam previews... or I'm wrong?
You are wrong here, it is topic about URSA Mini, not only 4.6k.
So the title of the topic is misleading us..
So the title of the topic is misleading us..
No, title list top version of same camera. First topic post always had all of them listed.
I think having no HDMI output is also a negative for the URSA. Not everyone has SD monitors for studio and location work. Most cameras today will have HDMI as well as SD.
@truestory i think that is a silly thing to say.
This camera is playing to professionals, who use sdi.
Sdi to hdmi converters go for literally $20-50
