GH4R box. GH4 R includes unlimited rec times and V Log L. Each file is chopped up into 4.26/4.27Gb file elements (not unlike DOS Fat32) and not long contiguous files.
Is a USA GH4 with the new firmware and Vlog the same thing as a GH4R?
@mpgxsvcd pretty much.
@mpgxsvcd The difference is unlimited-duration 4K recording on the GH4R, whereas the GH4 is limited to 29:59 because the EU classifies video recording devices as 30min+, and add'l tariffs apply.
There is a 200 Mbps in 4K?
@heradicattor No. It's only in HD
I told Panasonic how to do limit removal legal way years ago. Make all cameras limited, and include special code card (as this firmware one) with non EU bodies. And make code same for each camera, including EU ones.
Problem solved.
@driftwood I was surprised to hear on the Dvxuser forum that the vlog l data maxs out at 79 ire on the pre release dvx200. I know ire does not make a lot of sense with log data but it does indicate a shortened number space for the data. Is this also true for the vlog l on the gh4.
And if the above is the case on the gh4, ie 79 ire, does the histogram max out before the the furthest right end.
GH4 V Log BOAT
Ok I finally the 79ire. It has has to be to get lut comparability with full Vericam vlog. I would have preferred having the option to set the camera to using the full number space, then scaling back in post for varicam vlog compatibility. It would be easy for me to modify a varicam vlog lut handle the scaling for a display lut while shooting.
I'm currently grading Alexa log footage and it is very similar to V-log in the IRE scale. I think it's a bit premature to worry about this. I have graded Nick Driftwood's samples and they grade very well with no issues.
@Driftwood - Hi Nick, I've been searching ALL over the net to find out how to improve my GH4 slomo by sharpening luminance in Premiere Pro, but no luck, is it easy to describe, or could you point me to a reference as to how to go about it? Much appreciate any help or pointers. Thanks Alistair
Fixing mount
A short report of MIMA 2015, french puppet festival (Mirepoix). Shot with GH4, Pany 14-140 (exterior), Sigma 18-35 + SpeedBooster (interior), and Isaw for the time Lapse (bad choice for time lapse, very bad in low light, only auto exposure…grrr). Video was not my first goal, I was there for shooting photo, GH4 is a great cam for the job, silent mode is a really must have for shooting during a quiet show.
Shot this for fun with the GH4
@natureflixs Nice. My "for fun" kind of stuff is not at this level... :(
Thanks, glad that you liked it.
My last project with the GH4 and Shogun. It's been a great camera but time to move on.
@seekingheartwood Looks great.
