Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens with Cleaning Kit, $99 deal

Used wide open at ƒ/1.8 or ƒ/2, the lens exhibits substantial corner softness. On a sub-frame camera like the 7D it's not quite as noticeable as on a full-frame camera like the 1Ds mkIII, because the sensor doesn't capture the entire field of view offered by the lens. Either way, at ƒ/1.8 there's only a small area of sharpness in the center of the frame, which quickly gives way to softness going out towards the corners.
Stopping down to ƒ/2.8 improves sharpness dramatically: on the sub-frame 7D, images produced are almost tack-sharp corner to corner, with a light amount of softness in the extreme corners

The 50mm f/1.8 STM's focusing sound is greatly improved/reduced over the 50mm f/1.8 II micro motor's presence-announcing buzz.

Canon’s 50mm f1.8 STM is an overall great lens for what it is: a cheap lens that is aimed at a specific consumer. It’s not going to deliver the best image quality and it’s not going to give you the looks that many third party manufacturers give you now. But what it will surely do is give you a starting point to work with.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM build quality is reassuringly good, thanks largely to the new metal mount.
Image quality is generally good. Chromatic aberrations are well controlled, geometric distortion is impressively low, and the Super Spectra coatings successfully prevent contrast loss attributable to flare. The only real optical issues are some obvious corner shading at the maximum aperture on a full-frame body.

It must as it is STM lens.
Even though this lens costs more than its predecessor, it still represents great value due to the high levels of sharpness it produces. The improved build quality is welcome too and should win over many fans as a result.

Any idea if this would work with Face Tracking on the C100 or 70D?
