I'm shooting an action related setting tomorrow (ocean, fish, bait, madness) and I'm a bit lost with the options for 720 60p. I have searched and followed topics, but the 60p bits tend to get overlooked and lost in topic.
Which patch is your favorite for good light, high action across the frame and end result motion slowed?
There's also this one by Sage over at dvxuser, it looks like it might be good but I haven't tried it yet: [Information] Comment=The New Normal? I tried using the 60p settings on driftwoods 176 GOP1 settings with a shutter of 250 and an 8gb sandisk 30MB/s card, and I got a card speed error, so now I am also looking for a good quality 60p patch
@p_hawks Il be restabilising all my setttings with some new ideas. It should work though... does with my 32/45gb cards - which GOP1 patch did you install - GOPSTOPPA?
@driftwood i believe it was the 176 GOP1 ver 3 "quant me baby" 24p works great and looks awesome, I am putting together a little trampoline video right now. I had originally planned on shooting in 60p, but i immediately got the error. I was using a shutter of 250 (much less blur, I like it for slow mo). However, shooting 24p with a shutter of 50 gave some amazing results
Stonebat, is the original file available? On vimeo, I see a lot of low res blur around the boy's hand as it swings. Is that part of the original file or Vimeo's re-compression? could you upload the original file to Fileserve or megaupload?
Sorry. I can't. I forgot to turn on the continuous AF mode on. So his hands got more blurred.
Try the GOPStoppa setting. It's very good. SS was around 250. High f number. No ND filter. Lumix 14-45mm. It didn't crash. Super. After conforming from 60p to 24p, I applied Timewarp effect at 25% speed from AE CS5. Overall it's 10% speed.
Plus hand-held camera. It was just a candid shot on my kids.
In a controlled setting, the high bitrate 720p60 setting will give much sharper images. It might be so sharp that the camera might crash. Hopefully it becomes more stable in GH2 firmware 1.1 & new PTool & @driftwood's settings.
Sorry for not replying earlier I was busy prepping, but thanks for the replies.
I ended up using Driftwood's GOPStoppa patch for 720p and have no clue yet how it came out. I've got a pile of 16g and 32g cards sitting here after an insane day at Montauk...insane. This should be a good 60p test.
