"Engineering is complete. We're working on retail packaging as well as imaging and distribution setup. Tentatively scheduled for release March 19th, the Meerkat will feature Intel 5th Generation processors, up to 2 TB of storage and 16 GB of memory packed in a 4 inch x 4 inch package. Pricing is to be determined", says System76 on Google+.
The company further shares, "two CPU options will be available - i3-5010U and i5-5250U. The Meerkat will use M.2 SATA SSD's for cetain -- possibly PCI but that hasn't been validated. GPU depends on the CPU -- i3 is Intel HD 5500. i5 is Intel HD 6000. Iris Pro won't be an option -- that class of Broadwell CPU won't be released until 3rd quarter which is very close to Skylake's release".
Upcoming NUC stuff
This is the Intel Compute Stick, a humble HDMI dongle that houses a full desktop computer experience. It's not a particularly powerful one—you get a quad-core 1.33GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of solid state storage—but it does have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and both a full-size USB port and a microSD card slot for expandability. As long as you're not gaming and find yourself a decent couch controller, you could probably do quite a bit from this tiny PC!

GULEEK i8 Quad-Core Windows 8.1 Smart Google TV, $104
Has battery, so can be used with your camera monitor on site.
Do not know as do not use streaming services. But it must be able to play almost all 1080p content, yet only with DXVA. Best idea still is to select something on Haswell or similar chip, as they are also future proof as can play 4K using hardware acceleration (only H.264). Next year Intel chips will have HEVC decoding added.
Do you think the Zbox Pico would work fine as a HTPC with a 3tb external HDD, streaming services (Netflix, YouTube) playing 1080p content and Emulators gaming? The size would be suitable for carrying it from one room to the other.
