In short, they added old HDMI 1.4 for recording 4K at no more than 30 fps.
Seems cool for a7s users but only 8bit at 4k via HDMI 1.4 I understand.
Proper way was to add HDMI 2.0 to make it more or less future proof.
But I think that demand already exist even for such form of recorder.
Only 8bit if you bought the A7s :)
So this is like the Atomos shogun then, but with some added features.
The 7Q+ is a 720 screen, while the shotgun is a 1080 screen. Why?
The 7Q+ is a 720 screen, while the shotgun is a 1080 screen. Why
One is OLED.
The Shogun still seems to be the winner, on paper at least. Once its released!
HDMI 1.4b does to 10 bit color. The A7s only outputs 8 bit color. Camera limitation not HDMI nor recorder limitation. But as far as these recorders go, I don't see the point to an OLED on set, sure its nice, but I wont pay a premium for it, it's going to go through a colorist anyways. I am gonna get the Shogun.
HUE OK, but saturation of skin...
Tried one out a few months back and despite not being compatible 4k with the GH4 it was pretty cool product with great software. Can't wait for their next implementation.
