Panasonic Lumix GM5 offers all of the advantages of a compact system camera, including access to one of the largest ranges of lenses for mirrorless cameras, from Panasonic, Olympus and many others. The GM5 also gives a built in electronic viewfinder, and benefits from compact lenses designed specifically for the compact Panasonic Lumix GM series, including the new 35-100mm telephoto zoom lens.

Panasonic Lumix GM5 doesn't compromise on image quality or features, and delivers advanced options in a camera small enough to fit in your pocket, even with the lens attached! The camera has a good 3 inch touch screen which makes it easy to use in combination with Panasonic's clear and logical menu system.

Small, reliable, elegant and well-built, the Lumix GM5 is a good buy, both for people who like a good-looking camera and for people who like a camera that takes a good-looking photo. By including an EVF, Panasonic has one-upped the GM1, a model we already liked.

Itretains the compactness of the GM1, making it the perfect companion for casual street or family photography. You can basically slip it into your handbag and forget about it, as it won’t take up any more space than your wallet or smartphone. You can see a picture below showing the two models side-by-side. Besides the EVF, the most notable difference is the button layout on the rear.

  • The Panasonic GM5 certainly isn't the most powerful camera to be announced here at Photokina 2014, but it's one of the most interesting updates we've seen this year.

  • No 4k. But I liked the impovements, good little camera.

  • I changed topic name.

  • Seems like a relatively minor upgrade from a video standpoint.

  • There's also this: http://www.dpreview.com/articles/8360832069/hands-on-with-the-panasonic-lumix-dmc-gm5

Perhaps time to start an official topic now that's been announced?

  • I've been enjoying the GM1 since it was released last December, specially due to its compact size, so if they manage to keep it as small with the rumored improvements, it will definitely be an interesting camera for many people!

  • Built-in is not very good idea. It would be great to have a hot shoe mount with accessories port instead. That gives user a choice. Personally I'm in need for an audio in rather than an EVF.

  • I love my GM1, and a viewfinder+ 4K would be very nice..even if a bit larger.

  • Please Panasonic, dont block the HDMI output.

  • Still want to see how Panasonic could deal with heat dissipation created by 4k recording in these rumored small cameras

4K heat issues are greatly exaggerated :-)
