The 45-175mm lens is so cool that the zoom operation is oso done inside the lens without extending unlike previous zooms. For its slimmer body n constant length, i'd say it's quite a compact mid tele zoom.
Power zoom...fantastic! But a power zoom with variable aperture...? Not so good for manual exposure work.
I would be much happier if they upgraded/professionalized the 14-140mm with power zoom AND constant aperture. F2.8 would be great, but would be big/heavy...I'd settle for F4.
IMHO 14-45mm f3.5-5.6 (almost 2 stops!) with power zoom = gimmick. Something new to sell to those who already have 14-45mm.
Look at Sony's 16-50mm Zeiss zoom has video optimised OS and AF plus a constant aperture of F2.8.
I'm highly impressed by the Power O.I.S samples at maximum zoom and low shutter speeds. One advantage of m4/3s having lighter lens elements to be able achieve this
I'll definitely upgrade from the Lumix 45-200mm to the X 45-175mm, but I'll still be frowning at its f4-5.6 speed. If only they'd make fast cine-style versions of these lenses for the AF100! (Cause I'd use them on the GH2.)
