Just come across this new (well to me anyway) Chinese fluid head and wondered if anyone has tried one or knows anything about them? They seem to be even cheaper than the Weifeng 717's, but I can't find any reviews...
You mean http://www.chinajieyang.com/products_en_detail.asp?id=1006 ?
Seems like cheap copy of Manfrotto thing.
Yes, e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141396689750?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Like you say, similar to some Manfrotto heads, but maybe crossed with a Weifeng! - but are they any good…?
I wouldn't advise anyone getting it. A seller sent me this head along with the iFootage shark slider. I own the Manfrotto 701, as well as the 502, and a Sachtler Cine DSLR & Fsb-8..The 701 which is comparable to, is so much better. There is a cheap friction feel with this head, and the horizontal movement can't be completely locked. Knobs are bad as well. The telescopic handle is the only thing this head has going for it. I tried using it on my monopod, but it just doesn't make sense since I own the 701 as well. The plate is different as well. I've only kept it for that odd static shot if I need a 4/5th angle.
Is this the same re-branded version? - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005AA50QY/ref=gno_cart_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
Here is a test of the JY0506H I've found on youtube (horrible rolling shutter using a 5dIII)
the final part of the movements seems to be too fast in my opinion...rolling shutter on GH camera it is not a issue like on 5dIII, but if you are going to use long lens with this fluid head I think a more expensive solution would be much better...
