Thanks. I like his reviews.
Operating boom pole and sound stuff by Don Coufal :
LOL, the mediahalo dude's review was mostly about all the Dollar Store fixer-upper work he did to refurbish the Lux Cinema boom into a serviceable tool.
Ya LP, so funny...he doesn't see too concerned thou.
Darren's reviews are funny like that. Unlike many reviewers who gush all over their latest purchase, Darren is willing to point out the flaws and evaluate gear with an honest perspective. Eventually, we have to deal with the shortcomings of gear, so its nice that he doesn't candy coat his reviews.
It appears the Lux Falcon Carbon Boom Pole is no longer available. I sent a message to the eBay store about two weeks ago but have not received a reply and there are no products listed for sale. Does anyone know where to get one of these?
Bump. What is "the best quality for the price" carbon fiber option at the moment? Lux Falcon booms doesn't seem to be available.
I recently bought a gitzo and I am very happy with it. It is my first owned pole and I have only had brief experience with a rode aluminum pole before, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt.
I have seen some very cheap cavision poles on sale. In forums I have only read people say bad things about them... but none of them owned one. They just thought the brand was terrible. I bought the gitzo because of that. Recently found this guy in a Spanish speaking forum http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1732895/ He says he has owned the Cavision SGP535F for more than three years and is very happy with it. He does claim the pole holds 3kg, which is twice as much as B&H say it can hold, so take that on account.
I have also seen a video on youtube of a dude that has a proaim and is very happy with it. Again, no experience, but you may want to research that brand too.
Sent another message to the Lux Falcon eBay store about two weeks ago. Still no response and no items for sale. Website is still up but it appears the owner has gone AWOL!
It appears the Lux Cinema Falcon Carbon Boom Poles are now available again from eBay...
Internal wiring is a must-have feature for a boom pole in my opinion.
@DouglasHorn I'm not sure if you checked the Falcon Carbon boom pole link above but they can now be internally wired.
I was looking months for affordable carbon boom pole, and last week I ordered Gitzo 1540 and just got it. Haven't tried yet in practice but it feels like really solid piece.
What pisses me off that Lux Cinema has so horrible customer support. Does not answer to messages etc., their product would have been cheaper and longer. I would have definitely tried that but had no idea they started selling it again this week.
@tonalt I had all but given up on Lux Cinema after trying to contact them for about six months on and off. Sent numerous eBay messages and emails but not a peep. Anyway I ordered the 12' pole yesterday. I only hope the delivery is more forthcoming than the response to my repeated attempts to contact them!
I thought I'd revive this thread as I'm looking for a very affordable boom pole now.
I'm on the fence about which one of these two cheapie boom poles to get, and would appreciate some feedback. I guess the "On Stage" is the better one, however the "Cavision" is half the weight! Which I reckon could be a significant factor by the end of a long day.

This also looks tempting, is nearly 3m and is only about a hundred bucks (with FREE shipping! An important consideration when it is often expensive to get to NZ :-/ ). So a little more expensive than either of the other two, but has hugely more reach. (& from the pictures it looks like it allows internal cabling too!)
Oohhh.... Aliexpress has the Miliboo Z901 at an even cheaper price:
Has a slightly different tip however to the eBay one however So don't think this one would allow internal cabling??
Thus I think the extra $12 to get a tip that allows internal cabling (plus a few other extras like a case for the pole) would be worth it:
You can get last one and just not spend so much time. :-)
Yeah I do think I tend over research things! :-o But it can be too easy to get "junk" if not careful :-/
Well.... I have just had a frustrating attempt at communicating with the seller for this:
Because I wanted clarification on the tip used at the end of the boom pole (if I could run internal cabling through it, like on other Miloboo Z901 ones I've seen listed).
First response: a single happy face emoji! :-o What the hell, that is no kind of response at all
Thinking that perhaps they did not understand me, I tried again but in Chinese (" 如果你觉得用英文不方便表达,也可以用中文。").
Second response: the single word "sorry". Huh, seriously?
Hmmmmm..... I'll take this as a hint to buy from a different seller instead.
Thus I feel I shall go with this one here instead:
Just purchased the Z901, will post my review here. Probably need a thin microphone cable to keep it light weight.
The LUX Carbon (first post in thread) seems to be 9' on ebay, but 12' on review?
