Waiting for price to go under $400.
@DrDave You might be waiting a while ;)
I like Steve Huff and his website. No-nonsense.
Getting mine tomorrow, should be fun!
I'll admit I've actually dreamed of using this lens. I'm going to rent it for an upcoming shoot.
Firmware update for 42.5mm Lens:
2014/04/22 Ver. 1.1

Nice roast!
Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that there is a danger of bouncing this lens if you're not used to the clamp lens hood [that this lens has].
I'm accustomed to the clamp hoods from the old angenieux zooms, but they didn't have the storage option, where you reverse the hood back over the focusing ring and clamp it down for storage.
That said, here's what can happen: Once the lens is stored, by reversing and clamping it over the lens, it is possible that you might pick up the lens (by the clamped on hood). If the thumbscrew isn't tight or engaged, the lens will side out and gravity will take over. I have two hands, so I was lucky and won't do it again.
The lens is very nice and goes well with the gh4. The only problem is, I don't have the bathing beauties to photograph, so I'll stick to bushes, railings and cats.
On a separate [but similar] note: In our post pro office, we received one of the first mac pro humidifiers. Cost us $13,000. I picked it up, and the fancy outer "can" was not engaged, [by a numb-nuts little switch] When I pulled it out of the box, the guts of the mac slipped right out of the canister. Sloop! gravity taking over, 50 year-old reflexes barely functioning... Again, I caught the bastard with that other hand.
Now I carry gaffer's tape and put it on everything that's new and fancy.
I hope this will help to save some of your glorious new crap from destruction.
Bye
The Panasonic-Leica Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 is a very high-level lens that portrait photographers and videographers can certainly appreciate. The build is wonderful, the image quality is wonderful.
Comparison with Olympus 45mm and Voigtländer- http://www.pixelmania.nl/artikel.aspx?rubriekid=2&artikelid=2215&page=2
@Vitaliy_Kiselev Thanks for linking to the comparison with the Voigtlander - although they seem to have focused the CV at a different point (slightly farther) than either of the auto-focus lenses. We are really spoiled for choice at this focal length.
I just received my latest lens today for my GH4, the Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm f/1.2 ASPH Power OIS that is one of the sharpest lenses tested on Lenstip . It is the fastest lens made with OIS and should be great for handheld 4K low light shots with shallow DOF since it's sharp wide open .
Clearly that was filmed with a FF camera. We all know m43 is incapable of such shallow DOF ;)
