GF2 / GX1 or G3 best to hack?

Hi, looking at delving into the micro 4/3 world. I am interested in a GF2 to make short films / docs (using a tascam for ext audio) with the goal of getting a blackmagic pocket cam in a year. The issue i have is which camera to choose now (to hack), while i slowly start up my Bolex c-mount collection. the GF2, the GX1 or the G3. Budget is £200 and i need a lens with that too...big ask.

Better get a used GH1 for your budget -its's much more capable for video.

hi, thanks for the replies. i got myself a GH1 and a Canon FD 1.4 50mm lens. also have a Fujinon ENG B4 lens (no mount yet).

now i just need to "man-up" and hack it. thinking about the Lpowell 75mbps but confused...does that allow me to shoot at 24fps at 1080?

All set, checked my battery and it's not a Panasonic one...do I try and install my new lPowell firmware? Body version says 1.3 on the camera.

You probably can't update firmware on your camera with third party battery. Even if it lets you to do it, I strongly recommend to not doing that. You could damage your camera. I recommend to get genuine Panasonic battery to hack it.

Or use the mains power and battery eliminator that should have come with the camera.

Thanks. I thought I read somewhere that you should not update the firmware on mains power?

True, if the power fails you have no battery backup, but it's probably safer than using a non genuine Panasonic battery. Looks like you best buy a battery.
