Now that we all have our Speedboosters and Tokinas 11-16mm.... Olympus realises that there is a market for FAST ultra wide lenses and is working on an update of the 7-14mm F4.0 - it only took ages;-)
I would still prefer if they complet there highend set (Oly 14-35mm/35-100mm F2.0) and give it F2.0.
Price point will be interesting.
Comes out in 2015 . So who cares for now...

I'm a proud owner of a pana 7-14mm that for underwater use is unrivalled (being the only one rectilinear). This, at F2.8, will be a best seller.
Maybe I'm a dreamer but it would be nice having a prime wider, lighter, small and fast. A 5mm F2.8.
e.g. Despite of its peculiarity (aka unique) Tokina 10-17mm fisheye zoom is one of the most used and amazing lens for underwater use. I wish we have something similar native for m43...

This is awesome! Very early teaser. I hope Panasonic updates their 7-14mm now.
Could someone please advise if this lens, mounted on GH3, still provides full auto-focus capabilities and light metering just as a Panasonic lens would do?
It seems like a safe bet that it will be completely functional on any micro 4/3 body since it's being released by one of the two main companies making micro 4/3 cameras and since there are few, if any, known incompatibilities between Olympus micro 4/3 lenses and Panasonic bodies. However, the lens doesn't ship until June so it seems unlikely that many people will have tried it on a GH3.

Thanks. This is comforting to know. Had it not been auto-focused/metering on the GH3, I would have gone with the manual Kowa Prominar 8.5mm F2.8 now. Since there is a very good chance that it will auto-focus, I guess I will wait for June to verify.

The Olympus 7-14mm PRO lens is VERY sharp, and the sharpness matches the other two PRO lenses, 12-40mm and 40-150mm. There is a minor increase of sharpness when stopping down from F2.8 to F4, but the difference is quite small, I am perfectly happy at what the lens produces at F2.8. The sharpness is also very good all across the range from 7mm widest all the way to 14mm.
