they did go full retro in this
Fingers crossed for decent video implementation.. looks like a dedicated rec button?
Yeah, it's a dedicated rec button. But it is a Fuji, don't have high hopes about a good video mode.
I like, another great camera from Fuji, that it is sure, as is sure will be very expensive.
I wrote to them a while back suggesting they improve the video side of things. It seems like they take those kind of responses seriously as I got a personal reply, thanking me for all the input, saying it had been forwarded to headquarters in Japan.. e.t.c.
Now, not saying it will happen in an instant but they do have a track record of listening to their users. Even decent video capabilities would make any of their cams a very interesting option (for some film projects) and perfect walk around cams. Stills side of things needs very little improvement IMO.

Look at the size of the EVF ocular patch!!!
Top layout and dual dials photographer's wet dream :P (clever and simple implementation of meter and shooting mode), rest of ext controls looks as it should, just enough buttons, hopefully function assignable. I.e. 1 AE-L, 1 AF-L and 1 AF-assist (probably also foc-on customisable). Dual SD, Weather sealed, Tils screen, 8fps. Fuji Photogs and X system adopters must be happy, je je. If 1800$ with a state of the art viewfinder they're gonna sell like donuts

If we had a M43 camera with a nice evf and dials like this i'd be a happy camper. Got too much invested and i like the glass that i have a lot but i'm waiting for a body whom i could have a love relation with. GH3 is good but i dont enjoy it as much as i'd want to. Kudos fuji for making such desirable gear!
The Fujifilm X-T1 is a stylish looking camera, if you like classic SLR styling, and with an abundance of external controls, it is a stylish mix of new and old styling. The compact size, available thanks to the mirrorless sensor and lens mount design, makes it an appealing camera, and with the ever growing choice of high quality lenses, Fujifilm has a winning formula on their hands.

Well there.. safe to say video mode has not improved in any way (sadly).
In this pace, Panasonic will catch up on stills before we get decent video from Fuji.
The X-Trans may be the best APS-C sensor out there, rivaled only by Pentax’s AA-filter free K3 and K5-DII. IQ on the X-T1 thus does not disappoint.
