I added four patches in HDMI ST category. All patches considered extra risky.
First is called "Content type" and allow to force to use specific HDMI content type parameters, regardless of mode. In other words, it fixes them, once applied. "itc" is, most probably, interlaced flag. "content" is content code. You can choose any of possible combinations using dropdown list.
Other three are "End skip X" and skip HDMI Ending routine. The bigger the number the higher on level is the skip (from skip within routine itself, to skip in higher levels routines).
I'm a low level coder and I'm curious... why would you brick the camera if you don't modify the bootstrap code? Or do you think that the HDMI related coded is always run, even before you can force the firmware update with the "play" button?
There are times when I tried to update the firmware with an HDMI cable already plugged into the camera when I turned it on. In all cases, the camera would never show the update screen. So yes, something is definitely going on with HDMI before firmware update.
deep breath... here goes...updating firmware...updated... connect hdmi time...
1/ Content - 0, itc 0 - Setting - Stock 1080p24H/L/FSH - 2 min recording, Ninja reports 108050i even on 24p (no bricking!) 2/ 1/ Content - 0, itc 0 - Setting - Stock 720p SH/H Ninjja reports no input, switch off cam/turn back on to find REC Mode greyed out and non selectable, have to break the hdmi chain /take out battery, to bring back all menus...(no bricking!) tried switching between outputs, Basically, Ninja just shows NO INPUT on non 1080i50 gh2 modes e.g menu select 720. Update: did as you said, Ninja doesnt auto sync/sense the 720 settings at all = NO INPUT.
@Vitaliy_Kiselev any more tests from this seting or shall we move on? I just wanna check the safety of these quickly ;-) Update: hitting play on ninja whilst hdmi is still connected to camera (switched on) causes an sync attempt but sends the REC Mode into grey out and still no input.
@driftwood Can you, please, not rush? Also do not edit previous posts, as it is impossibel to track anything. Be slow, describe every step and read my previous message.
Set PAL/NTSC output. Set 480p/720/1080 output mode. Use specific video recording mode. And list like C-0,itc-0, PAL, 1080, 1080p24, reports 1080i50, image visible, recording ok
