Panasonic has released orders for entry-level digital cameras to EMS provider Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) to minimize production cost, according to industry sources.
Taiwan-based Ability Enterprise is expected to receive orders for high-end digital cameras from Panasonic in 2012, the sources said.
Looks like Panny means business - with the new 'x' lenses and the interview saying they can beat DSLR's, hopefully it's not just hot air and they really attack the market cornered by the 5DII, 7D, etc...
Well that makes sense given what happen to their production facilities as a result of the tsunami/earthquake. Foxconn make quality stuff, they make a lot of Apple products

It is not the case here. Real reason is that most of the entry level cameras became uncompetitive. And this is despite of the best low level architecture on the market. So, they started to cut prices.
