I was thinking that it might not take much to firm up some of the flex if that problem was to surface on this model. The underlying concept is actually good. It just seems very hard to pull it off perfectly. I might try it just to see how it works. You never know. :)

The best people to review the Chinese copy would be the least likely to buy one: they'll have a good slider already - so they could compare the two but are less likely to buy another.

Perhaps there's a way the two of you can get together? ie a new purchaser with a current owner? Take the slider to a slider rental company and see what they say?
