I have the 50mm 1.8 Canon FD, 135mm Zykkor 2.8 and the kit lens 14-45. I am planning on buying this lens as my next addition to my kit. Would that be a good idea, or should I go for the 20mm or possibly the 14mm first?

45mm, 20mm and 14mm are great set. But different lenses for different purposes. So your question is strange. You need to get the lens that you really need first.

Ok well, I want to be able to take street photos as well as portraits for the video side. As far as the video, I want to be able to shoot narrative mid ranged shots mainly including a persons waist up. I am going to, and have been, shooting cinematic music videos and want to start investing in fixed focal length lenses. I hope this is enough info, because I am quite lost on the whole subject myself haha. I have no idea where to go with the few lenses I have. I wish there was a Hierarchy of essential lenses for beginners.

You have 14-45mm, so you can perfectly check that lenses in this range you really need.

If I had to pick one of the three (and I have all three) of the 45, 20 and 14, I would take the 20. But they are all good. Depends on the subject. For music videos you will need to add a camcorder unless you have a whole array of fixed lenses.

I just called every store in Virginia and none of the have the Olympus 45mm or Panny 20mm "in" stock :( I wanted to use them on a shoot later today!

Adorama has it, as well as Cameta and a few others. Adorama is slightly better than Cameta, IMHO, although I bought my E-PL1 from Cameta and it was perfect. Not easy to return an item to Cameta. Another option is lensrentals, of course, you could rent several lenses.

Just ordered one of these as I've had a gut full of veil flare with the FD 50mm f1.4 (matte box helps a little - top flag). Thanks for the reviews. Wish it had OIS though, on the tripod you go.

I know by references Zuiko is excellent in this photo still, but watching the video continues to surprise me, it's very organic. It's amazing, that not expensive, is fast and has an organic look.

This lens is great optically but was horrendous to match with more manual glass, especially the other voigtlander lenses I have. It really doesn't fit unless you are using panasonic glass or olympus (although it even has a quite different look than panasonic) but it is just very clinical looking. And the handlig is horrible on it. Its so small and the focus ring is almost impossible to pull focus with.

Yeah I'm expecting this kinda things. I have the SLR Magic 12mm f1.6 and it's too hazy for me wide open. So perhaps the clinicality (is that even a word?) of the Oly might be better for my uses. I'm worried about the manual handling but its price is low enough to give it a go and see.
