It is using transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) to increase the plasticity of your brain.
Cost - $249
We strapped the headset on for ourselves at a recent event, and we found it to be a weird experience. There was a strange, almost burning, sensation on the right part of our forehead, while the rest merely tingled. Oxley told us that it was normal for some people to feel it more on one side than the other, and that tDCS does take some getting used to. After about eight minutes, the tingling sensation remained even after we removed the headset. We didn't really feel our powers of concentration improve that much afterward, but it's hard to say after such a limited time.

Self administered weak electroshock therapy. Will be interesting to see if it works.
The technique was originally developed to help people with stroke and other brain injuries. It was found to improved cognitive abilities. Just be careful using it with third party batteries from ebay :)
This article discusses the risks:

There are other types of brain stimulators like Bob Beck's Brain Tuner sold as a Bio Tuner by SOTA. He also published schematics and you can also build it yourself.

If you want something safer, the audio brain stimulator Holosync and Brain Sync uses binaural sound to resync the brain.

If the two halves of your brain are out of sync, if you listen to a Holosync CD, you can actually "physically" feel the change in your head. You can try it by listening to Kelly Howells brainsync sample ( the first one has no narration) :
If you want something less safe, find a friendly neurosurgeon to implant an electrical stimulator into your brain directly (deep brain stimulation)
You mean I can get a headache, look like an idiot and potentially cause myself long-lasting impairment all at once? Sign me up.
Those brainwave audio recordings never done anything for me. I don't know how the two sides of the brain can go 'out if sync'. The left and right side have different roles and functions so what does it mean to have them 'in sync'. Sounds like pure marketing rubbish.
Brain Synchronization plays an imporant part in overall health. Research has shown that an out of sync brain can lead to disorders such as memory loss, insomnia, autism, depression etc. As far as brain sync audio, results vary like with anything...it may work only when it is needed, which is probably why doctors prescribe something that works faster...drugs!
