Thousands Gather for Protests in Brazil’s Largest Cities
“The largest protests are happening in cities which will host World Cup games,”
Yep, somehow people want education and services instead of idiotic world cup and sports.
I'm not against world cup and sports at all, but not with the people's money. That's stupid, the Brazilian government is financing alone practically all the world cup, and most of the money goes to big enterprises and the FIFA itself. This will be the most expensive world cup ever, in a country that still need basic things. Shame.
Well its like that everywhere - '08 Olympics and '10 EXPO in China - billions upon billions spent on some stupid debutante ball. Even if 5% of that was spent on education and healthcare - would be an enormous impact on society.
China has much more money than any other country to put in the trash if they like. A very small resource reallocation mean billions there.. In Brazil, to move a couple of billions things need to be done in a dirtier way. Beside that, the red party dont need to respond to the people's voice, just muffle them.
Former Banana Republic, Brazil is now the Vinegar Republic.
"Demonstrators found with vinegar (which can be used to lessen the effect of tear gas) were arrested."
"By June 17th what has become dubbed the “V for Vinegar” movement or “Salad Revolution” had spread to a dozen state capitals as well as the federal capital, Brasilia."
