That NPF plate looks a lot like the plate that came on the back of the 1280x800 monitor I bought from the deals section: http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2823/5.6-1280x800-on-camera-monitor-with-peaking-aka-h056/p1 In the example I have (tapered hole for a screw in the center, narrow battery guides on the sides) it is easy to think the battery is properly mounted when it is not. The plate will support the battery, but, the battery is on a little sideways, only held by one side and not able to make both electrical contacts.
In any event, there are some not-so-good NPF plates out there.
@belfryman I like it too, at the very least its a bit of reassurance that everything is OK. It also helps to isolate where a power issue might lie.
News about flexiom PRO Version. Now is my first "prototype" product ready.
Features:
2x input 5.5x2.5mm jacks with 3-30v DC input
Output 2x 8.5v max 2A (or any) and 2x12v max 2A (or any) (total 4A) , 5.5x2.5mm jacks
Digital Voltmeter with switch on-off-on reading the output.
Aluminum box.
Modular system, using more boxes you can have unlimited configurations.
Using 2 x NP-F 970 batteries you can have similar power to v-mount batteries ...
Having 2x output of same adjusted voltage you can connect two cameras , for example 3D rig etc ...
This is a universal version and can work with any battery or power supply 3-30V.
Please let me know your opinion ?
@belfryman , thank you!
I'm also preparing a "Super Capacitor Bank" as separate module. You will be able to charge it for few minutes and have your camera on for about 1 hour (8-10w), great for emergency situations and battery swap. As the cost of super capacitors is high the price is not decided yet ... Let me know your interest ?
@Xeifus ,
The price for the FLEXIOM PRO Version box alone is $150 USD + postage.
Power solution with integrated 2 x battery plates for NP-F 970 etc ... $190 + postage.
High quality components assure security and high precision, this is non serial product, custom built.
Cables can be arranged and customized for your specific needs ( + $25 USD).
Please do not compare this product with other power mounts on eBay with fixed voltage etc ...
This product can be customized after your needs.
Each unit is hand assembled and built per order (delivery in 4 -7 days after payment).
Some more images of two different modules configured 2x8.5v and 2x12 + 2x5.3v and 2x12.5v ... Also using two NP-F batteries.
Second configuration can be used with GoPro Hero etc ...
Some updates about Super Capacitor.
Test with two 400F/2.7V connected in serial it gives 200F/5.4V will need some more of these but the price is pretty high ($38 USD for two). It holds the Arduino and some other low current electronics for more than 30 minutes ... I'm planing to build emergency power bank, that you can charge in few seconds and use it for one hour to drive your DSLR ... Capacitors are huge but very light. Connecting more of them will increase the capacity and power ... But 4x400F/2.7V cheapest is $99 USD, it may be worth in very emergent cases ...
Let me know your interest ?
Great to see you made such a progress with the device in general and supercaps in detail! I must admit while your emergency power pack idea is funny, I do not see much real world use for it. Smaller caps inside device that allow continues recording with just one NP keeping things small and light weight would be something different.
These things fell into my eye, please take them as constructive critic:
This kind of switches break very easy when pushed from the side. Something shorter or two buttons could be more durable.
On long term you could think about lockable plugs.
Is there a way to see charge of source battery?
On long term you could thimk about lockable plugs.
As I understand this plugs, thay have threads, so they are like lockable. You won't accidently unplug them.
@Meierhans , the super capacitor is just test for now, I'm curious how this will work.
The 5.5x2.5mm jacks have thread, you only need to find proper cables with rings to lock ...
I will work on Li-ion 18650 batteries, that could be used inside the box as back up on external battery change ...
I will work on Li-ion 18650 batteries, that could be used inside the box as back up on external battery change ...
What about using 18650 as main power source? With special place and ability to replace them quite fast. And with integrated charger that is able to charge individual cells :-)
@Vitaliy_Kiselev , great idea. Still need to leave option of external power ...
The idea would be, to charge internal 18650 batteries while using external "bigger" batteries, car battery etc. When connected to external power, as people already have V-mount etc ... the internal batteries will be in charge mode and auto-detect when external power is off and supply power from internal battery ...
Indication does not need to show percentage, would be fine if you could just check voltage of incoming power supply. One will learn pretty fast what voltage means that you are running out of power.
One more idea: Add high quality stereo mic preamp with XLR in, adjustable headphone out, mic/line level out for cam. Just an idea in case you get bored once all is working. ;-)
@Meierhans , "Add high quality stereo mic preamp with XLR"
This could be a second project separate Flexiom module :-)
More detailed images of Flexiom DC Module. Coming soon a tech specification.
A bit forgotten ... I think there is still need for this kind of converter. I do have 5 pcs ready made as in latest photo above ...
I'm preparing Version 2 of this converter box. The price will be $100 USD + Postage, + customized cables if asked.
If there is any interest on this please let me know ? Hope @CFreak can give a some impressions and ideas for new version.
