Looks really nice, "Pro" even, but without OIS I'm not sure it will be worth it over the panasonic. Great on an olympus though I'm sure.

Hmm. Someone forgot GX7?
stills only on the gx7 right? at least until firmware update.
I'm looking forward to the reviews of this puppy though, that's for sure. no OIS at 40mm isn't really a deal breaker anyway.
On the other hand the E-M1 have separate mic in
First post updated with info.
0.3X magnification is really useful! Much higher than 12-35's 0.17x
Hi, Does anyone know if "manual focus clutch" means it becomes real manual focusing, when you push the pedal down? That would make this a great lens for stills and video if this was the case. thanks!
If the price of Lumix 12-35mm it do not come down, this will be my next zoom.
I imagine that "manual focus clutch" means that it's like a Nikon or Canon lens where the focus ring works mechanically until you reach the end of the focus range, and then it just keeps spinning. Meaning it's better than a fly-by-wire lens but not as nice as a true manual lens for FF use.

And someone forgot that the GX7 only uses its IS for stills.
The lens performed extremely fast on both the OMD EM1 and EM5–and we saw no major differences in performance speed out on the streets of NYC. Event photographers and journalists will be delighted to hear this.
What makes the lens so special is not only its excellent image quality which we can’t harp on enough, but the size, build quality, and speed in focusing.
With all this said, we can only give the Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 our highest recommendation–and it is every bit deserving of our Editor’s Choice award for best mirrorless camera zoom lens.

I could use this lens like, today! Wish it'd be available sooner than December.
Aah good news everyone!
The "clutch" has HARD stops !
Be sure to make pretty cat/flower samples. :-)
I really hope to see some comparison tests with the Pany 12-35 in the next couple of months. I really like the size and build mechanics of the Oly and the extra 5mm is always helpful but I'm on the fence on how big of a difference having IS is to me. I really hope we see some handheld motion tests.
I'll take the joke like a man!
But i dont have the lens for me to test, so i cannot supply the worlds need of more cat pictures, i'm sorry! All my love from Belgium!
Do you think he likes the lens? Lol
seems very good, no problem using it with GH2 ?
For a GH2 the Lumix 12-35mm f2.8 still a better choice because the OIS. But of course that the Olympus 12-40mm is compatible with a GH2.
Just in case this lens doesn't arrive before my December shoot, have any of you guys tried the current Oly 14-35mm? Since it's a 4/3 lens, will the auto functions still work?
@xenogears thanks
@SuperSet The Oly 14-35mm is f2.0, more expensive, bigger and heavier, i think the Lumix 12-35mm is more versatile.
