I was trying to understand dof field between a crop camera (D5200) and a full frame camera (5D).
If I put a lens at 17mm on the D5200 and 28mm on the 5D then my FOV should be approximately the same. What I don't understand is that I thought that the DOF would be similar since the aperture is the same as well as the FOV, but clearly this isn't the case based on the calculations:
5D - 28mm Depth of field Near limit 7.54 ft Far limit 14.9 ft Total 7.32 ft
D5200 - 17mm Depth of field Near limit 6.28 ft Far limit 24.6 ft Total 18.3 ft
So why are the DOFs different? Can someone simplify the reason for me please?
Thanks in advance.
Wow, the first video clears it all up. Makes so much more sense now. Thanks.
