why people ask all the time RAW image in everything ?
why people ask all the time RAW image in everything ?
May be because People like raw things :-)
A few weeks ago I was in Glacier and Yellowstone national parks and notice that the majority of tourists use smartphones and tablets to take photos. I do not know how many will buy a camera add-on. I also note that most men are using smartphones while a lot of women are lugging big DSLRs and big lenses.
Big initial store orders could mean discounts if inventory doesn't turn soon...
After spending a full week with the QX10, including shoots in Berlin and Alaska, it's hard not to revel in Sony's accomplishment. Built-in LCD or not, the Cyber-shot QX10 is truly a fantastic camera.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-QX10 produced images of fairly good quality during the review period (judged against similar compact cameras). Images are noise free at ISO 125-400, with limited noise and colour desaturation starting to appear at ISO 800. ISO 1600 exhibits quite visible noise.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-QX10 offers a Macro setting that allows you to focus on a subject that is 5cms away from the camera when the lens is set to wide-angle.
Ultimately the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-QX10 just falls a little short, regardless of whether you're a smartphone or compact shooter. It doesn't quite come up to scratch in terms of performance, feature-set or image quality, and is also a little over-priced too, perhaps inevitable given that it's a first-generation product. At the moment we'd choose a smartphone and wi-fi enabled compact to quickly share images, though that solution has its own challenges.

Sony did something remarkable here. It made something entirely new, and unique – there’s absolutely nothing else like the QX10 and QX100. The more I use the devices, the more I’m certain this is a good idea.

Picked up a QX100 on Thursday. So far quite happy with it. JPEG quality and low light performance is alright. Video recording lacks. The lack of full manual and RAW is mildly annoying but all of these annoyances can be addressed by software. Just ask if you have any questions. Looks like Camera 360 won't support it until October too.
Here's a couple shots
The Sony Cyber-shot QX10 is a compact with Wi-Fi for a direct connection to your smartphone, running Android or iOS.
It adds some of the benefits of a digital camera, such as a 10x optical zoom lens, however, doesn't add some of the more useful features, such as a real xenon flash, focus assist light or control over ISO settings

@MikeLinn - ROFLMA -that's exactly how I feel when trying to use the GoPro WiFi app :) :)
Video mode is neither here nor there. For starters, it only works when there's a memory card in the QX-10 module itself. It's therefore strange that video resolution is limited to 720p. High-res video being streamed and saved to a smartphone could certainly prove too bandwidth-hungry to stay smooth, but here it's saving straight to the memory card in the QX-10.
Sound is devoid of any kind of stereo effect. Plus, the mics on the top of the QX-10 can get covered up by your fingers when holding the module. On the whole, the video image lacks sharpness. It doesn't shimmer but moiré effects are sometimes visible.

Video can only be saved to the memory card in the module, not directly to a smartphone. Resolution is limited to 1440 x 1080 pixels at 29 frames per second in MP4 format, and that's your only option. The mics are placed on the top of the QX-100 module, just by the ON/OFF switch, which leads to a slight hissing noise in the background of movies. Plus, they're too close together to properly distinguish left from right in the audio recorded. There's no way of changing any settings once you start filming and you can only film in Intelligent Auto mode. You can either focus manually or use the continuous autofocus. This takes a little time to find a subject, but once it gets there it keeps the video image looking nice and sharp

The Sony Cybershot QX100 is a very unusual product, it's basically a compact camera without a screen. It has a fast f/1.8 aperture lens and good quality Exmore R CMOS sensor, picture quality is excellent. But. The app is quite basic, with only four picture modes. The Intelligent and Superior Auto modes take excellent pictures, but lacks the scene modes and digital filters which are common place on most compact cameras.

I've trying to get this info but to no vail...
If the QX is on and detached from the phone, can the qx still record videos outside the WiFi range? For example, could i leave it in my car and walk far away while it's still recording?
In January, both the QX10 and QX100 lens cameras will receive firmware upgrades that bump their maximum light sensitivity settings to ISO 3,200 and 12,800, respectively; theoretically, they'll have an easier time with dark scenes. The two will also support widescreen 1080p video recording, and the QX100 is getting a shutter priority mode (shown above) to help with action shots and long exposures.
Huh.
