I've been toying with the idea of being able to setup 3 DSLR's at my weddings and operate them all entirely remotely from a little booth setup. I've found this website, http://sennavideoequipment.com/webshop/ and for about 6k I can get a motorized head/focus/zoom. Unfortunately thats 18k for three. Would be awesome to do it for like, 2k a piece. Does anyone have some DIY links for building these? I built my own motorized slider before so I'm somewhat experienced and I bet its possible to build this sort of thing for WAY less than 6k.
Edit: Seems like http://www.servocity.com/html/mpt1100-ss_pan___tilt_system.html that system is a good start for pan/tilt. The remote focus/zoom control seems fairly simple to rig up as well. The problem is making it all wireless it would seem!
This is interesting.

The bescor does not have the speed of the servo based models ... may be useful if your intention is tweaking locked of shots. I have the components and the head for this but haven't gotten to it yet.
I've been thinking about the exact same thing - and I think this is an awesome solution
